Well I'm pretty much a noob my self so I may not be able to answer many of your questions
So, you may wonder, well how do I get the resources then
First I found it hard to know what resources I would need because there were aloooot needed and I didnt want look trough every single schem
Advance Blaster Pwer handler CD=66 OQ=33
Polymer
Diatium Copper
Ostrine Carbonate Ore
Phrik Aluminium
Irolunn Reactive Gas
Ones I had writen down all materials needed I started to look through a bunch of resources
I would guess it takes like 2 weeks maybe a little longer to start crafting okey weapons and right now Im having a blast crafting
I know a little about your tissue question
Well right now I can't help you much more as I haven't got much longer than crafting 1 T21

Howdy!!
I have been a long-time Chef on my server, and the CU has really hit me hard. Sure I still sell... but I am stuck selling mostly ARTISAN foods over and over again. Sadly enough I really love Chef... but foods have just been really borked by CU. But let me move on before this becomes a complaint thread!
I am... *gulp*... considering pursuing Weaponsmith. I am considering this for the same reasons I wantedto be Chef... the productsare necessary, can really help gameplay, and are varied... something I can take pride in. However... to be honest, as much as the prospect excites me... it terrifies me. *smirk* Even a cursory glance at the resource requirements has me sweating with apprehension. Not to mention the NEED to get the +12 exp points (something I achieved long ago as a Chef).Once I have those things in place... I feel reasonably sure that I could get the hang of it... but I need your advice before I get to that point.
First - is it worth it? Is the tedious task of gathering resources, schematics, and looted items worth the effort? Does it ever get to the point of running itself? HOW tedious is it? Not that credits are the most important thing but is it lucrative overall? How steady is business? If you mean creditwise, then exspect to use use use for the first couple of months. Once youre settled and starts being know at your server WS becomes profitable, but again dont exspect to have plus on the budget for the first couple of month (3-5 depending on how things works out)
Second - How long does it take to really get going? I mean having run a vendor for some time now I understand the nature of getting your name out there and building acustomer base... I'm talking more about how long to START? How long will it be before I can gather enough resources to actuallystart stockingsome decent items, make money off those, and eventually get up enough to start spending the ridiculous amounts of credits needed to buy looted tissues, exp points, schemes, components, etc...? And are those items worth it? I mean I have seen WS tissues go for millions... it just seems that since you are limited to maybe 2-3 guns with that one run of tissues... how can you possibly make your money back? Enhanced weapons are the big sellers cause people are willing to pay large amount of credits for the best. (for the other questions see my answer above)
Third - RESOURCES!! What is MOST needed? What do you need least of? Do you EVER stop harvesting?? What should I never stop looking for? The resources for the ALR, the HLR, High Capacity scatter, the MarkII Carbine and the FWG5 (and its featherweight version) is the most important atm. (Have a look at swgcraft for specific resources.) I never stops harvesting I have about 40 million resources and I wont stop, bettter spawns or things Im low on is what I lookout for, but when they arent their I just harvest the best in spawn (you never know if we get a new schematic requiring something new)
Third - General advice? Tips? Tricks of the trade? What would you guys say to a WS just starting out? What to start off selling? What doesn't sell? Tactics? Things to watch out for? Stories of your own progress? Yadda yadda yadda...![]()
I appreciate you all putting up with my inane newb questions... I'm trying to keep them as non-newb as possible... but obviously I have NO idea what it's like to be a Weaponsmith.I am trying to gather as much info as I can from the boards here... but the amount of info is staggering! Apologies if I have asked any questions that have already been answer tons of times before (and I know that is highly likely if this board is anything like the chef boards)! If any of you sirs have some time to reply with some helpful advice... I would really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance!!

Id like to say welcome to the profession, however say, that if you are leaving chef becasue of lack of variaty then perhaps WS isnt for you. Only thing selling atm is ALR, HLR, Scatters, FWG5 and MarkII carbine.
Can be kinda dull, but Im still hoping for the devs to acknowlegde the crafter profesions and give us some new stuff to play around with (thou it might well be a core issue with the CU)
Well, I am new to Weaponsmith. After the mad respeccing phase where I tried everything, I ended up as a MBH/MCarb and did that for a while - then discovered I missed crafting. I used to be an MDE, so I knew what the process was like (well, except for the selling part that is
). I decided to skill up and try WS which is one trade I hadn't ever tried.
First off I sold my BARC for 6m. Then I set about working my way up the skill tree, through artisan which took no time at all, then weaponsmith, which due to the double xps didn't take that long either. I made Heavy Warheads - I have one named "The Last Heavy Warhead Ever" in my living room now ![]()
Then once I had reached Master I set about learning WS. There is a lot to learn and you can't do wrong to read the forums extensively. Its a very complex and I think rewarding crafting system. Its fantastic to make a product that people want and need and are willing to pay money for - as opposed to droids where sales were slow at best usually.
I am not a 12pt smith, and won't be for a while given the costs of obtaining the CAs required. As a result I cannot compete on the very high end with the top WS on the server. I knew this, so I am tackling the low and middle range business which seems to be largely untouched. I began by making factory runs of low end parts using 4 factories to speed things up, then I produced a run of low end pistols and rifles (carbs are next) and put them up for sale on the Mos Eisley and Coronet bazaars - we are talking 4k CL6 type weapons here (DL44's, DLT20as etc) which is very low end, but not overly expensive to produce even using good materials - and which have been selling steadily to the new people just come to the game. While a 4k sale may seem kind of low if you are used to selling items by the crate, they add up. By the time I have sold the 100 of each type I have made I will have realized a reasonable profit and helped many new players - all of whom will want to buy weapons in the future and who might just check who made their current weapon when they do so (or so I hope). I am also tackling the middle range weapons and making one or two high end weapons on spec. As well I have a BH only vendor who sells weapons specifically for the huge BH population (its part of a Cantina that also includes Droid Vendors, Med and Spice Vendors, Food vendors etc, all tailored to suit the BH population and with a BH term out front and Spynet Ops 200m away. Its a cooperative effort amongst me and my friends and is so far working okay). As well I have skilled up in Merchant and now have 10 or so vendors out total, including a new players vendor that features only weapons below CL20. Being able to advertise on the map helps a lot so consider Advertising III if you don't have it (you probably do)
I am still in the hole, and I expect to be for quitea while but the cash flow seems to be positive overall. SO long as I make back the money I invested in buying my materials I will consider myself a success.
Of course, I just got a visit from an Old Man and that has switched around a lot of priorities on me - I am trading in Merchant for Rifle right now, but once I have the free slot I will skill up again as a Weaponsmith I think and carry on. The materials and equipment investment will still be there after all.
I have tried many of the different crafts and I have to say that WS has been the most challenging and most interesting to me so far. I have not tried Armorsmith although I imagine its much the same but with much more factory work involved (this might be my alts profession who knows). Next up I would say is Shipwright which was also a lot of fun, but faces severe challenges from dropped items which can be a downer.
Good luck with your Weaponcrafting!
How long does it take to really get going?
Do you EVER stop harvesting??
General advice?
