I have scanned th various messages on the board for this but havnt been really sure if i got it straight or not so could someone please clarify it for me if possible. What is the best thing to put the max experimentation points into on advanced scopes and stocks? Am I right in thinking it is Range for scopes and damage for stocks or have i got the total wrong end of the stick?
Cheers in advance

I was actually trying to find experimentation info on stocks and I found this post. So if anyone can post info on stocks that would great.
As for scopes, lately I have been making regular weapon scopes not advanced and been putting all experimentation points on lowering HAM costs (efficiency) to make a zero HAM w/ +10 to ideal range, I like low HAMs on my weapons, but that's just me.
I try to make stocks and put it all on damage but the HAMs are just too high, and putting it exp. points on efficiency isn't really worth it. I usually just try to find someone to loot me some Form-Fitting Stocks, I believe they are at the Imperial Theme Park. Any info on what other WS do with stocks would be greatly appreciated.

Personally, I dont think many people care about HAM. Experimenting on it isn't too worthwhile because the points only drop 1-2 units per point, which I feel is a waste. For scopes, I go max range and the rest into efficiency, and for stocks, max damage and the rest into efficiency. When assembling a weapon that uses a scope or stock, I usually put extra points into efficiency instead of condition and this usually balances them out fairly well. (Think of it this way, a "great" experimentation is 7% of the total value - if a scope has 15 HAM costs, 7% isn't much at all, however if the total weapon has 100 HAM, a 7% success makes a big difference.)
Then again, that's just me. When I get custom orders, and I'm sure everyone hears this, the buyer asks for speed, then damage, then condition. I really dont think 10 extra HAM is going to make them turn up their noses at your product because the 40/40 min/max from an advanced stock will make them forget all about that HAM up.

Just remember with stocks try to get the 40/40 +19 or so Ideal range so it really makes it stand out, especially them t21's =)

I don't think people care about ham now when they can get +2800 doc buffs, entertainer buffs/ahrisa/brandy, after CU though who knows.

Tired of fighting with the stupid style tag, I just said F it and put up a WS page. The info about my stocks and scopes is there and hopefully you will find it useful.

At least for the time being, there's so much emphasis on damage that I've only ever used 40/40 stocks except for special builds where the speed and lack of ham costs make the FF stock a nice option but those are in fairly limited supply. Experimentation on the advanced stocks is not working properly so it can be very difficult to get them right. Hopefully they'll fix that one of these days.
I make three different scopes that I can use on either production or custom weapons. I make a +41 IR 17 ham scope, +27 5/6/5 scope, and a +14 0 ham scope. For production weapons I usually use the +41 IR scope since most players are still not worried about ham cost but I always offer the customer the choice when making custom weapons.
I think the combat revamp will force players to really weigh damage vs. ham cost and will probably be the end of one-size-fits-all crafting of weapons that we can do now but that's just a guess.

with stocks it depends on what the person wants when making it, For carbines, I experiment up the range on my stocks and putting whatever is left into damage/speed. With a Plus 41 scope and +40 range stock, carbineers can normally take out defense stackers.

What I have done is set up a house with all the weapons and componets all the walls. For custom orders the person picks there weapon and for the weapons that it makes a difference they pick the style of scope, barrel and to stock or not to stock. From there they also choose which stats to focus the exp points on.
It's easiest this way I think, than mass producing weapons that are just impersonal. That's why WS is my favorite prof by far. People can get something they love, and exactly what they are looking for.

They affect different things. Crafted scopes raise accuracy and slow the weapon down, theme park scopes raise wound chance (worthless). Crafted stocks lower the SAC and slow the weapon down, theme park stocks raise damage and speed the weapon up. You just have to decide if the damage increase is worth the SAC penalty you will get from not using a crafted stock.
