if i make a schematic and it asks me to choose the size do i have to choose the exact number of units i want to produce or can i choose 500 and say produce 100 in a factory now and 400 units later?

You can make the schem any size you want...it will stop once the resources you've put in the factory are depleted. You'll be able to use the remaining uses on the schem as long as you put more of the exact same resources in the factory & restart it.

When using a factory to make an item the uses a looted component, do the looted components have to have the same serial number, or just that same stats?

ex. If I were making a crate of 25 geo sword cores, would I need 25 cubes with the same serial number on them?

Things made in a factory require exactly the same ingredients...so if those are looted items, they must have the same serial.
