I originally posted this in the Architects forum, and someone there suggested that our Correspondent see it as well, so Logix, have a read.

Recently I took an order for a pair of Krayt enhanced Laser Carbines. To make two of these weapons I need seven (7) identical Krayt tissues. One of the tissues is used in the schematic of the Power Handler (the item that holds the Krayt tissue) and the other six are to make the final product. Each Laser Carbine requires three handlers, and thus three tissues each. I had exactly the right amount of tissues.
Upon a successful build of the Krayt enhanced Power Handler component, I placed the remianing six tissues into the factory ingredient hopper, along with the required resources, and turned the factory on.
Each handler takes 160 seconds. Two minutes and 40 seconds later Id ran back to my shop, and stood chatting with the customer while the Handlers cooked. And then I recieved the "Factory has stopped making xxx component...0 items have been made" message.
Hmm, that doesnt sound right. I run back, and open the output hopper to check if its full, its sitting at 83/100 items, and then I check theingredient hopper tomake sureI have included all the right resources, when I find that theres only five tissues left inside the hopper and that an amount equal to that required to make the component have been used. If theres only five tissues left and resources have been used, wheres the freaking handler?
At this point I started to sweat, wth was I going to tell the customer? Obviously my factory is one of those not-quite-fully-experimented-hopper versions, that even though it displays an output hopper capable of 100/100 items, it obviously only holds 83/100.
I was shattered, Krayt tissues are not cheap, and now this guy isnt going to get what he ordered, and all Ive got is a lame I-read-it-on-the-forums-its-a-big reason why.
This seriously needs to be fixed, if a factory CANNOT make the item due to the receiving/output hopper being full, then is SHOULDNT use the materials/components.
As a side note I filed a ticket pretty much immediately, but didnt recieve a response for a few days, though Im sure you can guess what the reply was....we haveno way to track what is placed inside a factory, yadda yadda yadda, may the force* be with you.
* Maybe that should read farce?

Im pretty sure this has been an issue for like the last 3 millenia in SWG time.
I am a 1 week subscriber but I did play on release for a month. And I did jump in the forums alot afterwords. But I can honestly say I remember this happening even after release. Now maybe obvioulsy my memory isnt clear either but I thought they fixed it.
Who knows but im pretty sure I heard it before.

Yea, this has been an issue since day 1. If a factory fails to make an item either due to incorrect resources being added or the hoppers being full it sometimes takes some of the sub components. Best you can do till its fixed is take a little more time to check all is correct and theres room in the hopper.

Hopper read 83/100, what more could I do? Seriously, that tissue cost the customer around 250k+, and God only knows what it cost me, reputation, reliability?

I've had factories stop on me when the output hopped was anywhere from 60-80/100. The way i fixed it was to just keep the output hopper below 50 items and it seems to work fine.
Sorry you lost your krayt tissue though.

Also DO NOT CRAFT ON A FULL INVENTORY, while pulling items from an equipped backpack
I had this happen to me...
My inventory was say 57/60 I had the handler components in a backback, began crafting with the tissue only to realize that I was not wearing all my MWS Clothes,so Icancelled the crafting session after I had loaded the componets in, but before I had assembled it.... BIG Mistake...
The components unloaded from the tool RESOURCES first. to my base inventory slot.. Gas, Alum, Copper, Polymer (dissappeared), Ore (Dissappeared), Krayt Tissue (*Poof*).
