Is it possible to experiment or use some component to enhance the radius of a weapon?

Not entirely true. the AOE 'cone' DOES work. If you dont belive me. Go find yoruself a commando/smuggler or commando/pistoleer or something. Shouldnt be hard. At least on Bria anyway as last large battle I only counted ohh... at least 6-7 that were commando/smugglers. The problem with AOE is that before hand it didnt do any damage, or only 1 point of damage. But you COULD use it to lay down area states, area KDs, area roots, area intimidates etc depending on your template.

Now elemental damage works for AOE. Not much of a boon but it is a small one so you'll do on average 60-100 points of elemental damage in the AOE as well as what states you can lay down. And once they fix the actual AOE damage itself. Which going by the commando forums IS slowly being worked on (especially a recent post by Blix) it'll be pretty damned nasty.

But either way. Quite correctly it's been stated that it's not an experimental attribute. Generally speaking weaponsmiths can only experiment on SAC, Speed, Accuracy and Damage. And in the case of grenades DOT durations.

If i'm not mistaken you can increase the radius of which a rocket launcher does damage, but the rocket launcher itself sucks for a weapon.

true - commando weapons do have this - but the ee3 carbine for example still has this and gives no AOE as far as i know..

Not possible to experiment the radius sadly.

Right now live the radius does not do full damage (only 1 + elemental) to targets outside the main one.

However, states and specials outside damage DO effect targets around (or in a cone, depending on the weapon) your prime target.

This lets someone with, say, a launcher pistol or lightning beam cannon (both AE, not cone) and Master Smuggler and/or Pistoleer cause all kinds of havoc on groups of enemies. You get area effect stopping shot, intimidate shot, disarming shot, concussion shot, panic shot, etc.

I've been trying to find a non-commando cert radius weapon but haven't had any luck so far. Also just cause it has a radius doesn't mean it works right. Some are area effect, some are cone, and some don't seem to do anything.

Newly crafted launcher pistols and lightning beam cannons work pretty well as area effect from the target.

The EE-3 carbine has a 3 M radius while comando weapons have 6M radius effect. When you shoot a target the effect works in a circular effect outwards from your target. The formula for area for a circle is pie R squared. So the EE-3 carbine does 9 meter area of affect while comando weapons does 36 meter area of affect. Big difference that's why you think ee-3 doesn't do any area damage.
