Yesterday I was in a rush to make a few krayt weapons, so I started with an ABH.....scanned the list for resources needed. Started pulling all of the ore, gas yadda yadda yadda I needed....except for the diatium steel. Hmm...tons of ditanium, but where is all my diatium.It was driving me insane. after looking through 6 bags correctly labeled as steel, I decide to hit the galactic search vendor....still looking....no diatium steel in the galaxy??!? I know flurry has a ton of weaponsmiths, but......hmmm...maybe my favorite resource vendor....nothing....hmmm...3 hours later after bouncing around from planet to planet....I run into a "Weaponsmith Supply" vendor that was 150 m from my main mall/shop. The name peaked my interest but all it had was ore, aluminum and copper. I lost my will to make anything with an ABH so I started looking at the resources. 1st one I pulled up was Diatium Copper.

I don't think Ive yelled @%&!#"$! that loud in a long time.

moral of the story: When in a rush, scanningcan turn a 5 minute job into 4 hours.

Anyone else have anything like this happen to them before or am I the Noob of the week?

I actually had something like this happen to me yesterday. except I never found the resource. I know I harvested plenty of the ryll gemstone. but for some reason, I cannot find it in my "stones" backpack. Im not this careless. So I smell a conspiricay. lol

Im not flaming you. It's just that I couldn't sleep last night wondering where I put those gemstones.

My usual trick is, i have a set of four tissues , experiement away on one, get some nice results , click on create prototype rather than manufacturing schematic.

Oopsthere goes that nice ALR better make another High Cap Scatter or 4

Yup. Done that.

Also putting a nice Krayt APBH in a Scatter Pistol right after CU, not a High Capacity Scatter Pistol... Both take same exact resources, so I didn't think to back out until it was too late.

I think your "Ditanium Steel" problem is just indicitive of a larger resourcing problem....(which is in turn part of an even larger crafting problem).

I have noticed that a LOT of resources have decreased in both quality of stats and percentage of concentration. I have also noticed that the resources that are "Specific Need" resources (ditanium steel among them) are spawning FAR less frequently.

Most of the Bugs since the CU have been on the crafting side of the world... few of the bugs fixed have benefited crafters, we've even managed to get a couple new ones along the way (experimentation bug).

The whole thing is giving me a growing feeling that there is some malign plan to deplete or destroy the crafting professions... Weaponsmith is hurting the least right now (the combatants are dependent on us more so than the other crafting professions now days).

Well, for resources, it kinda depends on what part of the game they support. You know that 800 SR cap on copper? Well, we just got a Shipwright copper with 944 SR. There's a shipwright steel that spawned awhile ago that just blows away any steel with a 944 50/50 OQ/CD. I horde this shipwright stuf for making my weapons and have to beat off our shipwrights with my crafting tool. So check out the ship resources for your generic metal needs. Chances are good you'll find some that break the stat caps. Also, the creature resources and flora aren't bad either. You can usually find a planet with something decent. But, yes, metals seem to be decreasing in stat values lately.

I reckon there must be a new quest for diatium steel, in the gold mines of kashyyk. Do it and you get a melon, 30k of top grade diatium steel and a lifetimes supply of 5 bajillion dps guns.
