Thread: A Non-Holotrained Weaponsmith
Master Weaponsmith requires a lot grinding to reach. Also, weaponsmithing is a very resource intensive profession, perhaps more so than any other crafting profession. We need to track 3-4 dozen resources constantly, and whena better version of a resource shifts in everything you stockpiled previously becomes obsolete overnight. This also means that you will have to craft new versions of your weapons when a better resource shifts in.
Once you make Master and open a store, be prepared for /tell hell. Once you make a name for yourself and build up a good customer base, you will receive /tells constantly with questions, inquiries and special orders. Most people will be totally clueless about weaponsmithing, so you'll have to spend a lot of time educating them about what you can and cannot do. Also, while most players are decent sorts, there are always a fewjerks who can ruin your whole day, if you let them. So grow a thick skin and learn to put the jerks on your ignore list.
Good supplemental professions for weaponsmith? Merchant is a must. You will need at least advertising III (so you can post your vendors on the planetary map). Smuggler might be good if you want to sell slice weapons as well (though you could probably make a deal with a master smuggler easily enough). Master Artisan might also be a good compliment: a few weapons require Control Units, and you could also make your own power-ups to sell along with your weapons.
Most importantly, read the Pentultimate Guide to Weaponsmithing FAQ(should be asticky in this forum). It has a lot of good advice and information about weaponsmithing.
