1) 12 points refers to number of experimentation points. You need to aquire tapes with a total of +20 minimum to get 12 points.
2) Well most of it you'll be able to do yourself, the content badges is where you'll have a problem. I know as this is currently the problem with my ws toon. You'll the help of some good friends or guild.
3) Ask any weaponsmith here, DPS means nothing. Most of prefer to tout SAC over anything else. Basically because it doesn't matter if you have that fat leet DPS if you're out of action in 2 shots.

1) Yes, being a 12 point means you have 12 experimentation points. To be a 12 pt you need to get skill tapes that add up to +20 weapon experimentation. IMO invest your credits in resources. Being a 12 pt means nothing if you have such crap resources that your exp points go to waste.
2) I am a WS/BH so didnt have a problem with the sith pre-cu.
3) BasiclyDPS is (max dam+ min Damage)/speed. Speed makes a bit of diff but damageand SACare better IMO.
Hope that helps.

I'm not new to the game, but I am new to weapon crafting, and I have some generic questions.
#1 What exactly does "12pt" mean? I always assumed this was referring to experimenation points, correct me if I am wrong. What is needed to get 12 points, it appears that the default is 10.
#2 How does a crafter get force sensitive? It was easy with my combat character, but I know poor Desiato can't handle the warren. Is there a peaceful method to get the old man to visit? (I can understand that I will have to fight the sith no matter, what, but at that point, I can log both accounts and have my main gaurd my crafter)
#3 Calculating weapon quality by other than DPS, I notice that people on this forum always list guns with minimum and maximum damage, rather than the base DPS. I know that accuracy mod and SAC don't calculate into base DPS, am I missing something?

1) well answered by others: 12pts mean to have 12 experimentation points while crafting a weapon. U get those bybuying/lootng +20 in weapon experimentation tapes
2) As a crafter, you WILL have problemto get FS, but it is doable, even with a CL 1 (and i mean 1) toon. i did it
There are lots of new content badge since the CU, so basicaly, u can get more without heavy fighting, example are the mos Eisley begginers quest giving you a content badge, ancient krayt or gorax giving you badge when you kill them, for more details check the FS profession forum, i'm sure there is a sticky somewhere. Personnaly, i did get those content badge with my CL 1 toon: theed library, ancient krayt , gorax (for those 2, just group with some friends, find an ancient/gorax and just hit them once with a cdef, you'll get the badge. Check the distance well agasinst the ancient, as a cdef gun as only a 35m range and as you all knows, krayts have aera attacks), artisan beginners quest in mos eisley (gives you a badge about the tusken attacking MO when you speak with the major, don't remember exacty the way to do it, sry) and finally the nym theme park (easy to do:just find a cl50+ do go take the loots in the waypoints, get the loots and give them to the quests givers)
And voilà! 5 content badge
(NB: when you go on danttoine and Yavin for the jedis POIs, group with a cl80, this WILL save your ass)
But...the problem comes now: After you got all badges, the old man will come to give you the crystal and to triggers the sith attack...And that IS the point...somewhere in the following days, 1-3 cl75-77 siths will come and attack you...and you must survive the encounter without being incapped. Fun part is: as a naked lonely CL1, they 1-shot you. As a cl 1 with PSG in a cl 80 group...they 3-4 shot you. Had to get the siths to attack 10+ times before i did manage not to get hit, run in a house and wait for my escort to kill them.
Thought part, but doable. Good luck
3) We Weaponsmith are thinking that DPS is NOT the ulitmate thing to look on a weapon. In fact, most of us think it's the last thing to look at 8p

1. You get 100 weaponsmith experimentation at master weaponsmith, thats 1 point for every 10 points of weaponsmith experimentation. Attachments cap at +25 so you can get only 2 more points of experimentation with 20 more weaponsmith experimentation from attachments. Some people think getting the extra 5 points of weaponsmith experimentation helps.
2. I am not FS but know plenty of people have gotten it.
3. DPS is just a formula, while it does tell you something about the gun it isnt the whole story, since like you said it doesnt take into effect SAC and accuracy. Still a 350 DPS gun is going to be better thana 100 DPS gun.
