Ok, so how hard is it going to be for me to become a 12 point smith? Are the extra 2 points still coming from CA's?
Also...is it just me or does the game seem pretty empty? Has the population of servers just nose dived after WOW came out?

Well, because of the new Bounty hunter missions Experimentation Tapes have dropped a lot in value (along with other tapes) on my server WS xp tapes goes for about 500k a point now (for the higher end tapes that is (7+). It might be a bit different at your server, but deffinately lower than when you played last.
You will need +20 in tapes to get +2

I think this varies from server to server, but on my server People ahve jsut changed the places they hang out. Coronet is empty, but Mos Eisley is buzzing with new players.
Try asking around where the new hotspots are

On Infinity the price dropped to about 500k per point long before the BH loots, i'm not sure there's any correlation between the two. Infact EPC and RC weps would still have much better all-round stats from a 12pt WS than from a 10pt.

What BH missions? So what has changed? Are WS made weapons in demand still? And if so, which ones? Do WS's still make money?

What I ment was, because the BH targets drops SEA's pretty frequently the CA's has fallen in price. It might have happened before, because of Aakuan farming or DJM hunts. Its probably a combination

BHs got some new targets that drops nice loot including highend SEAs and Weapon Components. HLR, ALR, Featherweights, Scatters, Elite Carbines and Trando Rifle is my topsellers. WS can Make money, but ou profession has been hurt pretty badly by ROTW weapons, ADKs and the Fact that pretty much every ranged weapon in game can be capped with a bit of effort (and the right enhancers). (Rifles are the exception here unless you count slicing in, then those are pretty easily capped aswell).
