Please Read this entire post as you will begin to imagine just how great SWG would be under this new system.

The revamp of the politician profession got me thinking... If the politician and pilot professions are skill point free, what other professions might fall under the category of necessary to the basic fuctions and infrasturcture of an SWG galaxy. The next profession that came to mind was merchant. Merchants, like politicians are relied on by the entire population to keep the economystable and provide a structure (Pun intended) for people to live. In a way, these players sacrafice their "fun" by using points to help keep the rest of us happy. These unlike crafing professions aren't used daily and may be used only on a monthly basis. Is this fair? Regardless, food for thought. THEN...another thought popped into my head...

Here we are busting our butts to grind and master professions and when we give that profession up all of a sudden we don't have a clue how to apply the novice skills of that profession. For example, I am a Master Doc, buffing, healing and saving lives and I decide to drop it for a combat profession and all of a sudden I can't apply a band-aid??????? Or I am a master dancer making all the girls and some guys...:smileysurprisedrool...I drop it and I can't even dance like Kevin Bacon in foot-loose???

SOLUTION:

Once you master a profession, you get to keep novice and not have it cost you any skill points. That is your gift for having worked so hard, especially in this day where attempting the Jedi Grind makes you feel guilty for not turning in your xp for the 30:1 exchange rate.

I am not one to cry about how such things, but the fact is thatpeoplehave left the game due to such annoying little issues that all added up and the competition for gamers attention is tough. Even with four ccountsI am finding that it is a struggleto pick up the slackfor all of those who dropped architect to become ship wrights and don't even get me started on the Weaponsmith's that are few and far between. I'd love to master Weaponsmith too help out, but can't because of master merchant

HELP, DEVO TEAM...save the loyal SWGr's before there are none left and SWG finds itself on the pile next to pac-man and pong...HAHA.../emote loves the Devo team.../poke

Thank you for your time,

One politician was damn near a penalization. People passing it off as the plague. The cost kept alot of hard working players from being mayors, and mayors from switching since that would mean town deletion.

Two no doubt about it merchant is increadibly used, but underpowered. Still giveing it to everyone means infinite vendor storage. Not good. A better solution would be to remove merchant entirely and let the vendor limits go down.

Three keeping novice is a bad idea. In some professions novice is increadibly valuable. You need to balance your wants and needs. There is a reason that I am a master bh novice ch novice medic. I just found medic to useful to give it up. This is part of what makes template building fun, and rewarding. Player A has medic Player B has entertainer Player C has scout. Each one of these piddle point spends gives a player some serious bonuses. I do not want to play a game where everyone is a novice scout novice medic novice entertainer. Why simple if everyone has it its worth nothing. A profession is worth something, because not everyone has it. Plus all you would do is generate another bout of hologrinding. If you give up your medic you do still have something left the leftover xp and you can reapply it if you find you want it back.

I could tell you that I am angry with your attempt to remove my novice medic bonus. Which I have stuck with for over a year, But I am not going to do that. Instead I am just going to assume your terribly ignorant, and that its not your fault.

I see Merchant as a penalization also. I think you should be able to get that skill free, but only be able to choose between merchant or politician, maybe throw in militia with limited all around combat skills...

Personally I am sick of people useing vendors for storage. Its retarded we have limited lot sizes for a reason. Far better to lop off merchant and get vendor at business 3 150 items. Business 4 200 items. Thats really enough right there. You guys need to think with more then your lust.

Dude, I don't know why you have to get all personal. I was simply making a point that in "REALITY" a person who learned how ot be a doctor should be able to at least heal with a freaking stim"B".

As for Merchant, perhaps the answer is a reduction in skill points needed as you sell items to more people then...Tha best merchants would then get a bonus. There is a possible exploit there, but the exploits exist everywhere.

RELAX...and don't get so personal when you are discussing ideas.

I hear ya brother! I think someone is roleplaying Don Quixote this week but instead of tilting a lance at windmills they are swinging a nerf-hammer at anything related to vendors. I loaded 800 crates of Powerups on one of my vendors 3 days ago and over 200 crates are already gone. I hate selling Pups, they're a pain in the keister but people like to use them and I like them to be able to find them when they want them so I make them. Some people need to focus more on playing the game the way they want rather than trying to tell everyone else how they should play.
