Thread: is there a need for very fast pistols??i have tissues+barrels = -2.86 speed

i have 6 tissues - +35 dmg, speed -1.0 and 6 pistol barrels 8 dmg -1.86 speed - i was thinking of making some ultrafast butgood damage scout blasters 
would i hit0.0 speed - is that still possible? should i hang onto these until the revamp?

If u get a 0 speed weapon then its a waste, use it ona slower weapon. The attack rate is always capped to 1 hit per second by game design. However if u have a bounty hunter with some pistol skill and combat medic then they will be very interested in a faster weapon since u need to spend more skill points than available to cap the slower weapons.
There are webpages for working out templates and others for working out what speed u need to cap various weapons.

I know a few smugglers who would love near 0 weapon speed guns, people that have special moves like last ditch but naff all pistol speed... If you can make a few guns below 0.2 speed (the sort of speed required to speed cap last ditch without any extra pistol speed) and market on the forums as guns for smuggers, you may find a market...

Uber low speed pistol barrels are slightly jacked. Have been for longer than I can remember...
Anyway, their bonus will often not be properly applied, and you'll end up with aoms funky speeds.
I have heard of the really nice barrels causing speeds to go UP.

The way I understand the speed equation, is if you get a weapon down to zero, no matter what your speed mod is you will fire at the cap (1.0). Anyone knows that unless youre a pistol tech 4 with at least 2 boxes in bounty pistols you won't be capped with all but the fastest pistols on the most powerful specials. DPS is best served with speed first, then minumum damage, then max damage.
If your speed mod is 100 or better, speed is not an issue. The way the forumla works, 100 causes a divide-by-zero infinity, and you will fire ANY weapon ANY special at the cap (1.0).
