Thread: Question about resource gathering

Hello all, I'm currently an aspiring weaponsmith on my wookiee and I'm working towards gathering quality resources at the moment. My question to all of you is this, what, for you, determines how much of a resource you're going to collect? Is it X number of combines or X number that you always get no matter how much you might use? I'm going to be specializing in rifles, primarily bowcasters (not sure I'm going to enjoy the crafting so I'm going for a narrow focus to start with), any help is definitely appreciated.

My rule: always harvest has much as you can, because you never know when/if something better will spawn...
and if the ressource you harvest first is really low-end and you get something REALLY better...selll your old stuff or use it to grind somthing

if there is only 1 resource i need in spawn i tend to try and place every single harvester i have on it, who knows it might be the best spawn for 2 years to come, and if not maybe you miss a spawn of something later that anohter smith gets tons of and you can trade.

We had really high CD/OQ steel spawn on my server and I mined 1.8 million units of it. If I play for the next three years I will never use all of that. I am still going to keep it all since I am a resource horde.

Agree. I'm on Ahazi and for almost a year the best steel I had that also for a time was the best metal I had was Miviom (Sp?). I almost ran out of theis and used my resource reward kit to get 30K more. Luckily we recently had a spawn of near perfect steel (996/1000 CD/OQ shipwright steel). I mined 800K+ of this and would have gotten more if I would have had more harvestors or the spawn lasted longer.

I used to think..."heh I won't use this much so I don't need a hell of a lot". Not anymore, if I have space to store it I'm getting as much as I can.

I'm on Ahazi too and yes the best steel was miviom (637 CD, 962 DR, 970 HR, 353 MB, 964 OQ, 980 SR, 981 UT).

Itwas the best around for long long time and then I got hold of that new SW steel the second it spawned. I Was doing harvestor runs when it shifted so I got some good spots with 90% concentration. So threw some Heavies down (I got room for 40 harvesters but only used 10 as my others were on chef resources at the time). I mined it until it dried up...hehe. I do that a lot. Then I either sell it, use it, or put it in my guilds resource pool for crafting. When your in a guild that has a resource city, you really don't need much of anything, but it's always a good idea to get and keep as much as you can for yourself (never know what may happen).

Anyway, my rule on collecting resources is get as much as you can while it last. It may never spawn again or get bugged. An example is Rhodium steel on ahazi, we had one spawn of it since novemeber 2004 and it was terrible (i'm talking double digit figures, not triple digits). That seems to be as bad as gallarion gemstones that took nearly 7 months to spawn before we could make t21's.

My general rule is that regardless of what other spawns are out there and what their stats are, always get your resources for your professions first. Also, focus on the resources that are required by specific name first. You can find other less important resources for cheap (especially on a big server like ahazi or bria). Only time I get other resources outside of my profession is when there is nothing to harvest for my professions or the resource is so darn good, I can't pass it up (just like the steel that spawned couple months ago...it was as close to perfect as we'll ever see....can't get any better thanit).

Same story here

Just completed a steel spawn with highest ever OQ/CD. Though I would never, not in a 1000 toon lifetimes use it all, I mined 2.5 million units of it.

Maybe sell some or gift it away.

For the original poster, use your lots wisely. Find a good spawn, strip the heck out of it. Just hope you don't get 5 great spawns at once.

Good luck
