If you aren't reading the Some Questions Answered thread over in the CU temp board, you should go there.
I found this answer a bit odd:
Is the weapon cap here to stay? Powerhammers cap somewhere near 1100 damage from current data. This means that pre-cu weapons are all basically converting into the same stats. A hammer with 650 max and a hammer with 850 max will both convert in the area of 1065.
In conversion, the top five percent of all pre-cu weapons will be converted into a bonus range which may be as much as 20% higher than the post-CU normal weapons range.
So they will compensate for nerfing enhanced weapons by improving range?

They probably mean range of the different stats for damage etc. Not the range of the weapon

D'oh. Now that I've reread that....
On the other hand, the testing that's been done on TC seems to indicate that the above statement is not true. It will be interesting to check how this plays out tonight and in future patches.

I agree with everything you said except the "base" PH part. Basically, I don't equate base with capped.
I take the above quote to mean that an "uber" stat range is tacked onto the regular capped range. So, those top 5% of the weapons will assigned appropriately in that top-end range and will not adjust the stats of the other 95%.

Before you can really test their "Top Weapons" curve, you need to know what the best weapon in the game is. If someone somewhere has a looted & sliced PH that deals 5k of damage with a 3.0 speed,it's gonna blow the the top off the curve andpush all those 1k/5.9 Acklay hammers way down, close to base hammers.
