I have an novice weapon smith on one of the new European servers, so when I lock in here to night and read the patch notes I was pleased to se that the DLT20a rifle was moved to novice weaponsmith along with a metal staff.
The metal staff is good, perfect for grinding. But the DLT20a ? Its schematic uses a "blaster rifle barrel" that novice weapon smiths cannot make, so I will still have to rely on pistol users and polearm users for my weapon sales.
Is this a over site, or was novice weapon smiths mend to rely on more skilled weaponsmith to make the DLT20a?

Novice weaponsmiths are meant to be gimped, shafted, and beaten upon until they get to Firearms 1, at which point, provided they have enough steel, they grind up to at least Techniques expert. Until then, there is no point.

In all fairness, though, you probably wouldn't want to bother with the DLT20 anyway, since, even if you could make it, you'd still have only one experimentation point and one assembly point to work with, so the gun would be lousy anyway. No one's gonna buy the **edit** things. They'll just be the rifle version of the D18.

In all seriousness, I think that, at least with respect to WS, the devs view it basically as like joining a fraternity. You get constant hazing until you are allowed in, at which point, you're just like everyone else who's a member. In this case, the fraternity is the Master Weaponsmith fraternity.

It is unfortunate but true, a novice weaponsmith is useless how they designed the game.

This is as opposed to a novice architect who has a much better chance of selling product although that may change with the latest update and new experimentation.

Experimentation is fundamentally elitist and you cannot compete in almost all crafting profession until you are master.

Having said that mastering a crafting profession is the easy part, it is running a complex operation around a very complex profession like weaponsmith that is the hard part.

novice weaponsmith being useless is good.... ever master weaponsmith has gone through all the grinding so i don't see why the novice weaposmiths now should get off easy. I like how it is now because you won't make a sale if are just half a_s_Sing it as a weaponsmith to make a few dollars... keeps the dabblers out =)
