In the past at least, that happened when you successfully repaired an item that was at zero condition. Once at zero, something can't be repaired, but how the game handles that is flukey.

Finally tried repairing my weapon again (after trying a couple time before and having it disentegrate...doh!) and now it has -100/900 condition. I'll take a guess this is a bug?

Anyone out there actually notice an improvement in our ability to repair weapons? Despite using good quality tools I still reguarly break weapons that are below about 66% Condition.

I haven't broken a weapon in about 12 repairs, and don't repair unless under 50% due to the craziness of the system.

Just for this post...

Dont try and repair a weapon above 50%?

I thought you were more likely to fail if the weapon was in a bad state of repair?

I use 96 or 98 effectiveness kits, and I have never seen the condition after repair stay within 50 points of the condition max before. Thus I tell people to use there weapon atleast till 50% and then come to me for a repair. Usually at or just right around 50% I get the maximum repair on the weapon you should get, since it will never be new again, and for this I get very good tips cause I basically prevent them from getting a new weapon. Yes I said tips, I don't have any such pricing scheme for repairs, I request tips only and don't care what they give me really, it usually is suffice. I sell the kits for 1500 credits. Also might I note that almost everyone that comes for a repair knows of the systems current state, in that they all accept that there is the possibility that weapons will be broken.

I've broken 2 weapons total since the change, always using 99.9 kits. About 70% are completely successes, the rest are all the moderate successes that lower the condition 100-200 points. I usually repair at least 2 guns a day.

Since I've never tried to repair with any lesser kits, I've no idea if there's any difference.

yah, i like to wait till after 50% condition loss as well before i repair them. i use 98.8 quality tools and stand next to my 42% quality crafting station. i havnt broken anything since i hit master.. and i mostly get 50 off the max current condition loss

Historically I've had great success repairing items next to any crafting station (perhaps high quality private stations help?)
