When i made my first T21 i had a weird looking problem with it. When you choose the type of barrel i just chose a different barrel to the default one, and when i assembled the T21 when i examine or equip it the gun looks weird. The barrel that i chose is showing on the gun, but it is turned 90degrees and is sitting on the end of the gun facing downward.
This also reminded me of an old T21 i had that when i put a muzzle powerup on it, it did the same thing.
Is this a known bug, or is it just me?
Here is a screenshot to show you how it looks.

yea its a bug. if you craft a t21 using the stock and barrel still in the crate it wont show up and will look normal.

So, I should craft the gun and only use barrels from a crate. but i should unpack the stock from the crate before crafting if i want that stockto show? (I hope i understood you correctly).
also, does the look of barrels have any effect on the look of weapons?

Not for the rifles or carbines. Although you can pick different graphical looks for the rifle barrels, if you craft the weapon with a visible barrel, the barrel will always look the same no matter what type you created. The same is not true for pistols. If you create a different looking barrel, the finished weapon will have that barrel on it. You can make some seriously funky looking DL-44's with the different barrel types.
