The anti-decay kit is easily the biggest blow to the weaponsmith profession since this games conception.

All combat professions have one best choice weapon, now only the bestof the best weapons will sell.

Players will shop around until they find the best weapon and that will be it, no repeat sales.

If you aren't selling sliced weapons, forget about it, infact, if you aren't selling enhanced sliced weapons forget about it.

If you are thinking about picking up weaponsmith now, forget about it.

I'd like to know who requested this? The amount of stuff that does get asked for and is ignored was embarrasing(its actually not that bad last couple of weeks) so I wonder why time was spent on this?

I'd also like to know why there wasn't anything done to stop it from hitting live, isn't this why there is a test center, so stupid stuff doesn't make it to live?

Is there anything we can do now? how was the 1 day crafting debacle ended last year and can we do the same thing here?

Well, I'm an Ahazian so I really have no clue regarding how things have shaken out thus far on the other servers, but based on what's happening on Ahazi, the anti-decay kits are being sold like crazy, at the time of this writing, 10 million each.

Now, I do have a problem with this being in the game period, let alone a veteran reward, but it's been done and now we have to live with it, and adjust, as with any changes they make. We may not like it, but there's not a whole lot we can do about it.

However, I do respectfully disagree that the anti-decay kits will hurt our business drastically, and here's why:

  • As I mentioned in the first paragraph, the kits are currently selling for 10 million on Ahazi. Only those players with deep pockets are the ones that are buying them, and when they do, they are not buying just one, but two or three, or more. These players, most likely, already have an extraordinary weapon, or multiple ones. These are not the customers we service on a day to day basis, so I see no business loss whatsoever from those types of players.

  • True, players will shop around and get the best weapon possible, but remember, the kit is a one-use item. Aside from a TKM with the VK, how many professions use one weapon exclusively ? The typical rifleman carries the T21 and Dxr-6 at the very least.Perhaps their "favorite" weapon will last forever, but not any of the others they use on regular basis.

  • For the players who"cashed-in" on the kit craze by selling/trading it,their weapons will continue to wear out as they always have, so no loss of business for us there either.

So, in my humble opinion, I don't see the kits as being a death-knell to the WS profession. Will we lose business ? Sure, to a degree. But also remember that the anti-decay kit may be used on armor also, so it's perhaps foolish to assume a player will use it on only weapons, though probably in most cases, they will.

Regardless of whether or not this will hurt the profession, can anyone in anyway say that it will help us?

Already losing alot to jedi who make their own weapons, this is certainly not helping the situation.

1. i get 1 kit since my alt isnt a year old yet, its going on My lightsaber its that simple

2. My rifleman/swordsman carry : 1 Scythe 2 powerhammers ( 1 with high max for PvE and one with high min but lower max for PvP) 1 T21, 1 DXR6b, 1 jawa ion rifle so i would need a total of 6 anti decay kits for him which means that there are 5 players running around that sold me their anti decay kits and hence dont have them anymore

I'm mainly worried about these items for two main reasons.

Firstly, those with exceptional/legendary weapons. Those *NEED* to decay otherwise you'll eventually have everyone running around one hit killing everyone. Do you want to play a game of "who can attack first"? The concept of dying in one hit is bunk anyways. No one would pvp, unless they had an uber weapon to compete.

Secondly, I'm not worried about the overly rich people. They have their exceptionals/legendaries. I'm not worried about the cheap people who sell theirs. I'm not worried about people using it in armor (chances of people doing this? Not very high. 9 pieces = 9 kits. Unless you're a wook... which only takes 4.), I'm worried about the upper middle class range. The bountyhunters, the rangers, etc. I'm worried about selling enhanced pistols. What am I going to do with my 1-3 spare tissues? I wont be able to sell a DE-10, because everyone will be running around with ones that last forever. I wont be able to sell a geo pistol, same story there. Scythes? (Most of my business so far), not gonna happen. Acklay PHs? Nope. Considering the amount of alts that people have, I'm sure people will have kits to spare, and will use them on their own character.

Sales for the time being may boost, maybe even 10x, but it will not compensate for the steep slump that I'm sure we will see. I'm starting to worry how I'm going to be able to afford exp tapes now.

Well... I'm a wook, and I'm a rebel... I'm used to being on the short end of the stick. I guess it'll happen to my last remaining un-nerfed profession. (CM + Swords = nerfed in CU) So... I suppose I'll enjoy my last moments before the ultimate downfall.

its not as bad as it sounds, sure you will lose some business, but most people are buying the kits up, for use on there armor and weapon or 2, you will still get alot of business by those who sold there kits and had no use for it, or needed credits.

I have not been worried about the anti-decay kits until SOE announced that you could delete the weapon and use the kit again. Before that there would not be thatmuch to worry about. But now as you say, people can use it on a grinding weapon and then delete the weapons when they finally got their hands on a good gun.

Keep the anti-decay kits but remove the ability to destroy the weapon to get the kit back. If not now then after CU.

Think its getting worse. Apparently you can delete the weapon the antidecay kit is on to retrieve the kit (not the weapon obviously) and then apply it to a new and better weapon once you find one. so you dont have to wait till you find that uber legendary weapon. You can apply it to a good unenhanced H and then work you way up from there. saving loads of money on weapon and taking away even more business from us. At least this is how it functions according to the devs and some testcenter guys.

Is'nt this just till after they fix the lightsabre bug?

Lets be clear - most of the people selling their anti-decay kits are crafting professions (or are about to leave the game or are just stupid) - so they DONT need to buy lots of weapons. So it isnt gonna create additional business
