Yes you can still "customize" some weapons if they are hand crafted. We just can't choose the component shapes anymore, they are all one type. There are bugs though, take a scope out of the crate and place it on a DL44XT and you'll have a pistol with 2 scopes...one in the middle of the pistol grip.
