Weaponsmith Archive
Thread: gonna start a WS
Sorry I know this has probably been asked a million times, but, how much resources will i need to master and what should i make for best results in skill gain. Also what resources will i need.
maybe there should be a FAQ for this.
I've also been asking myself that question (how best to get to Master Weaponsmith). I've come up with a couple of different answers for myself that may help.
If you have an Intellimouse, change one of the clickers to "doubleclick." Then you'll halve the number of clicks you'll need to make.
While working my way up from ground zero (Novice Artisan) to Novice Weaponsmith, I discovered that, using the macro (see whymeswg's post entitled "Super easy and super uber grinding macro"),I could turn outa mineral survey tool using a Pause 3 instead of a Pause 5, thus about one every five seconds. A mineral survey tool has four schematic slots to fill (three metal and one mineral), thus four clicks of an Intellimouse (or eight clicks on a regular mouse). Since metal is a mineral, the mouse cursor does not have to moved from one resource icon to another, thus saving time.
Now as I contemplate moving up from Novice to Master Weaponsmith, it is really the number of clicks that count for me, not the amount of resources I use. Although blaster-pistol barrels yield the most xp, they have six schematic slots (windows) to fill with several different resources. Thus I doubt that anything less than a Pause 7 can be used in the macro, since it will take quite a bit of time to fill up those slots, moving the cursor from one resource icon to another and clicking (Intellimouse) or double-clicking (nonIntellimouse) six times.
So I looked for an easier path and found -- SWORD CORES! Only ONE shematic slot to fill. Thus I may be able to use a pause asbrief asPause 1 in the macro. Each practice (no item) sword core gives 26 xp. Six of them (about the number I think I'll be able to turn out in the same time it would take to make one blaster-pistol barrel) will yield 156 xp. The downside is that one sword core requires 16 metal. Thus the amount of metal used in making sword cores will be much more than that in making blaster-pistol barrels. But that doesn't really matter to me, since my other character is a Master Architect and can supply this character with as much metal as he needs for free.
Since it is the number of times that I have to click on the mouse that is the most important factor for me (I want to have to click the FEWEST times possible, since I envision having to click from one hundred thousand to two hundred thousand times in order to make Master) -- I'll opt for sword cores over blaster-pistol barrels.
Hoped this has helped you somewhat. ![]()
