Thread: Crafting Stations Something I noticed
My apologies if I'm being really slow here.......
But, I may have finally found out what the crafting station bonus actually does.
I was under the impression for a while, that a better crafting station bonus helped you to achieve more "great/amazing" successes during the experimentation procedure.
I was somewhat dismayed when my +25 station seemed to give me worse results than the public one!
The last thing I made on my +25 station was an advprojectile feed mechansim as I had run out and had to craft one from scratch. I got all great succeses andit came out at 0-31 damage, -0.54 speed, which was like normal.
After persuading my colleague to take time out from his busy architect schedule, I persuaded him to make me a new crafting station, which he did. I now have a +38.5 crafting station. I then created a manufactuing schematic for some Adv projectile feed mechanisms on the new station. I used exactly the same resources, got exactly the same number of great successes and they came out at 0-36 damage, -0.70 speed! The only thing that changed was my crafting station bonus.
So, maybe, thats what it does! ![]()
I dont know...ive noticed no change since i got a +43. I would think that the tool and station affect your actual assembly bonus, which determines getting a Critical fail on assembly...experimentation I would think is only using your Experimentation Skill.
However, Ive heard rumbling and would like to test whether Malleability affects the success rates of your Experimentation. If you have 2 metals one of 900+ Mall and one of <100 Mall see how your successes turn out when experimenting on something like Projectile Rifle Barrels or something...Im going to test this at some point...
In fact, I didn't see any different between a -10 or 41+ crafting station, both weapon quality or success rate. All I noticeis the Moderate/Good shown much more than before after the patch last week.
Hmmm....
I will try to make a few more things.......I only got the chance to make feed mechs last night.
I'll see if I get an "across the board" improvement.
From my own experience and seeing what everybody else on the forum has experienced (and there have been extensive trials done), the crafting tool/station bonus has absolutely no effect on either assembly or experimentation successes.
The thought about malleability playing a role had entered my mind too. I think this is A) a more plausible way to affect successes and B) Malleability has to do something!.
When I get time out from sales.....I'll play around a little more.
I'll keep you posted ![]()

Joon,
I think you just experienced the "Amazing Success" bug that has been talked about here. I too have experienced it on an Advanced Blade Vibro Unit. First one I ever made was 10 higher damage and .4 faster than any I have ever made since. If I had known it was so good, I would have made a schematic. As it was I used it in a VK which crit failed ![]()
Seems that every now and then, stats just turn out heaps better for no reason. Same ingredients, same stations, same units.
