Thread: Some good news about ToOW from the Stratics Chat...

Well, I was at the Stratics Chat today, and on a couple occasions, the devs said that there's schematics for all the new weapon models in ToOW. Who knows where to get these schematics, but at least they're in the game somewhere. Now if only they'd go back and add in schems for the ROTW weapons.

I just read the transcript and it said there are roughly 20 new schematics for WS. It didn't say all new weapons would have a schematic.

However that is still a good number. I"m guessing alot will come from the Cha Ghan Cube. I still don't see why if a WS has the expansion active the schematics cannot be tradeable. I understand wanting to keep expansion content seperate from those that did not pay for it, but making them untradeable for those that have ToOW is silly.

*gadgettek* Well the crafting professions did recieve more then thirty new schematics throughout allclases. Granted some of the ways that a crafter needs to work with combat classes in order to gain these schematics. But schematics do make up close to thirty percent of all new loot drops and covers all the new weapon models.

<*Cyrus* yes ungrouped, high level combat players will be able to get through much of Mustafar’s content

*Banana_saber_owner* Hello, about how many new weapons are available in this new expansion ?

*Banana_saber_owner* There will be roughly 50 to 60 new weapons. Including 14 never before seen weapon models.

*Stettin* There were some hints that crafters would get more "schematics" rather than competing with quest rewards during this expansion. Are there any plans to keep a balance, as opposed to 90% of all new weapons being quest rewards as in RoTW?

*Stettin* Well about thrity percent of loot coming out of ToOW is schematic loot. But with this expansion a balance between crafting classes and combats classes is being met. Combat classes will be needed to gather the tools to make the schematics and items but the skill of the crafters is needed in order to make the powerful items that the combat classes are after.

actually they did say all weapons

<Sprite> *Turel* I noticed there are some new weapons in ToOW. Will any of these have new effects or different stats to those already in-game, or are the differences mainly in appearance?

<Shadowbrak> *Turel* There is new art in the expansion for weapons but a bigger change on the whole are the new weapon effects introduced as a part of Publish 24. Many of the existing weapons effects have been updated with new graphics.

<Sprite> *gadgettek* What sort of content will be added to the crafting professions in this expansion, or is this yet another combat only expansion

<SpaceRancor> *gadgettek* Well the crafting professions did recieve more then thirty new schematics throughout all their classes. Granted some of the ways that a crafter needs to work with combat classes in order to gain these schematics. I don't know which math you are using but mine says 60 != 14

Actually they said:

approximately 60 weapons

about 20 weapons made from schematics

schematics come from cube .. and aren't tradeable ... so I guess all the ingredients needed for the cube to make the schematic should be given/sold to a weaponsmith who has a cube that can create the schematic and then create one of the twenty weapons.

I don't know how the other 2/3rds (40) of the weapons will be provided ... most likely in quest form or maybe directly from the cube also (I guess anyone with a cube may be able to potentially be their own weaponsmith!)

any word on weapons from these new schematics will require new resources that may only come from Mustafar, or just the standard ones we have accumulated along with the various components?

I now have the same quesiton, what is the Cube? Is it a item that I have to get personally to craft the potential new weapons?

If any of you played Diablo II there was an item called the Horadaric Cube (sp?). You put three loot items and out came a new item. There were hundreds if not thousands of combinations to produce items.

Well SWG has copied that idea and they have stated that there are over 350 recipes. During beta only about 40 were discovered, as not all of them were implemented during the testing phase.

Similiar to Diablo II you need 3 items to insert into the Cha Ghan Cube. These "faintly glowing", "dimmly glowing", or "barely glowing" loot parts looks like regular crappy items from other planets. Like a faintly glowing datapad ...etc.

As pointed out before anyone can attain the cube as it requires no combat. To get the loot or "recipe" pieces you will need to rely on combat people to provide them. This might be tough since they will also be using the pieces in hopes of generating new items too.

Schematics generated from the cube are no tradeable, but the looted parts are. Items generated from the cube also are not tradeable.

So after this long response, yes, you must have the expansion to craft the new Mustafarian Weapons.

Hope this clears up the confusion.

OK, I'll do my best to answer the "what's the cube" question. Keep in mind that a) I was not in Beta b) everything I know about it I read on these boards.

The "cube" is a variation of an idea from Diablo II, The quest to get the cube is said to be doable by a CL1 toon, just some travelling.

Once you posses the cube, you can place 3 looted tems in it and it will spit out a new item (sometimes a schematic). The item it spits out is non-tradeable. The looted items are hard to get and require fighting a CL1 cannot do. There are tons of combinations of loot items you can place incube, HERE is a site that has started to map out what you get when you make certain combinations

SO...you need to get together with your combat buddies and get them to give/sell you the loot pieces.

Again. this is what I've gleaned from reading the forums, it is not first hand knowledge.

and from the 50-60 new weapons i'm guessing it also counts the crappy ones like you can randomly loot on kashyyk not just rewards. Well guess i have to buy that expansion some day... For now i can't because i don't have a Creditcard.

I ave seen a screenshot of one weapon ( I think it was the Obsidian Lance) and it required Mustafarian Steel.
