Thread: Sunrunner Weaponsmiths, anybody have a good steel mining area?
Not sure how long you been doing the grind, but even if we give you a good spot, it'll likely be gone in a few days. So, that part of your question is likely moot, but here's a few tips that might be able to help you with your steel deficiency.
1) Personal mineral harvesters are not going to cut it. Stop grinding, go save up 40k or so in cash, and buy a few mediums. If you shop around, you should be able to find them for sale for 15-20k. They are well worth the money and are more cost effective than the heavies, although you will eventually want those too.
2) If you only need steel for grinding purposes, you should be able to find a concentration higher than 39%. I refuse to drop a medium on anything less than 70%, unless its a rare or new resource. Then I drop a medium, search the rest of the galaxy, then come back and pull it up.
3) Solar power..... enough said.
4) After you get enough steel, hit Tech IV, and start work on some guns. I sell DLT20a's and DH17 Short Carbines on the bazaar with and make enough in a day to run my harvesters fora week. Say goodbye to destroy missions for cash.
When I was serious about grinding, I found an 85% spot of some Kiirium steel. The stats were horrible, but I put down 4 mediums and left them there for a few days. When I got back, I had around 100k of steel, which was more than enough to keep me busy for afew days. Also, look for other high concentrations of metals. While grinding my barrels, I use aluminum and steel, because I found a 95%+ concentration of aluminum, and I have more than I can use now. It might make the grinding go a little bit slower, but it can really stretch out your steel supply.
I have a few other tricks I would be happy to share with you. Send me an email in-game.
