Thread: This doesn't make any sense!
Ok I'm new at the weaponsmith profession but I have a maxed combat character under another name. Maybe this has been brought up before on this forum long ago. Why is it that it takes to long to make anything anyone, even at a much lower "users" level will buy?
Wouldn't it make sense if new weaponsmith products coincided with new combat profession's needs? As it is the senior weaponsmiths don't bother making much for newbie's (i can see why) and newbie weaponsmiths can't really make anything worth while that anyone wants. Thats why there is this need to rush and grind just to get some skills to make anything worthwhile in order to make a bit of cash... just enough to run a stinking harvester for more than twenty minutes.
It just doesn't seem to me like a very good marriage between what new weaponsmiths can make and what new comabatants need. Or the leveling is mismatched. Combatants can just hop right into high level weapons (hint 2H curved is an example) while it takes much much longer for us get the schematic for thatitem. Shouldn't a growing combatant and a weaponsmith be meeting each others needs simultaneaously?
Again... I didn't just start playing yesterday and don't let my 6 posts letyou think that.... but something seems ary here.
I'm having fun though.. It just seems until your 3/4 way up the weaponsmith tree it's just stupid nonense.
ok.. well better back to making and tossing 4250 barrels ![]()
thanks for some response...
First of all I didn't mean I toss the barrels. The macro I got from here is wonderfuland it has the "practice no item" string in it. But since you actually use steel to make them... lots of steel... your still wasting a resource that could have made barrels so in effect its the same thing.
As I grinded my way to sleep last nightcounting "the crafting session has ended" I thought of a perfect example of this. I'll use the two hand profession since my shelfed alt is a Master Two Hand. I'd rather not get in over my head with guns since I'm still learning about them.
Over in our forums there is always a debate over the best type of 2H weapon. I would say at master level it's split fairly close between Power Hammer, Two Hand Curved, and Two Hand Cleaver. In that order. Although the Cleaver misses a lotmany swordsman swear by it since it drains the action pool and some players simply have their points allocated that way. But lets say for the sake of argument it's in league with the other two. And it is.
As I look at my (weaponsmith me) skill tree my cert box to make the 2H Cleaver is way up the nose bleed sectionat Master Melle Weapons Crafting. Now jump to 2H. The cert to usethis weapon is practically at home plate..its actually in the first box in the Brawler Tree!! It only takes 1000 points to get the cert to use something that takes the weaponsmith 245,000 points to make. So while I can make a pretty good Heavy Axe right now (40-155,5.1,17.1%) how am I going to make ends meet selling a weapon that the user will only need for about an hour or so? He'll just get twinked or buy a used weapon that does 100-250.
If I had my way - lets stick to this one example - I would move the cert for such weapons as the 2H Cleaver Usage up toApprenticeHeavy Swordsman and move 2H CleaverCrafting down to Intermediate Melee Crafting. Ideally, both professions would both be getting there about the same time. The 2H Cleavers might not be the best but a young Swordsman might not want to pay 10-20k for one. And the young weaponsmith could still make some good ones which he'd be happy to sell cheap just to earn a few shillings to sink back into resources.
I'm sure none of my logic will change anything and I'll grind through mountains of steal. I guess I'm still peeved about my two mineralharvestors getting lost. (see HARVESTOR NIGHTMARE post) This debacle left me with three existing ones instead of five and the macro uses way more steel than two can produce. So I have weapons grind for a while... do lair missions.. buy steel and repeat.
well thats my take on it...thanks for reading. if my logic is out of whack let me know.
I was just about to go COMPLETELY insane at the end of the grind. But, I went from Novice Weaponsmith to Master Weaponsmith in 60 hours (from Friday morning at 10AM to Sunday night at 10PM). And, I didn't use a single third application to do it. It was all in-game macros and me double clicking 40,000 times. And, I'm not trying to brag. I just wanted to affirm what others have said. It is possible to make the grind in a VERY short amount of time.

thats nice... but totally beside the point. If you were having fun and making money even at low levels you wouldn't need to grind.
Yea you might do some now and then as in all professions but I have never seen such a blatant need for it.
Oh.. by the way since my post a few minutesago I earned4 newbie firearm certs hitting a few Kreattle lair missions.
