Hi, I am a new weaponsmit, I've only been one for a few days. As you all know, all i can make is the d18 pistol, sword, and c12 frag nades, and a bunch of other random weapon components. Is there anyone who can give me advice. My main questions are:

1) What is the best way to get weapon xp as a novice weaponsmith (what things to grind, etc.)

and,

2) What is a good way to make money as a brand new weaponsmith (as not many people are too interested in buying d18 pistols)

It would be a great help if someone could give me some advice.

There are plenty of threads in this forum that discuss this in greater detail than I'll go into here, but the long and the short of it is.

1)Grind- Find a good couple CDs, find a nice macro, get ready to turn your brain off for about 20 hours of gameplay, and get your hand on as much steel as you can. Grind blaster-pistol barrels to get Firearms 1. Grind projectile Rifle Barrels until master. It seems to be the consensus best bang for you buck. Generally people either go up firearms and then tech or go up tech then firearms. After that melee, then munitions.

2)getting money- (Option 1)if you want to make money as a weaponsmith, smithing weapons go up the tech tree after you get firearms 1. And after you get Tech 4, you'll be able to make pretty decent weapons assuming you have good resources. There is a market for slightly cheaper and not master weapons out there. (Option 2) Resource dealer-find a market to sell to. It might be ore to architects, it might be high quality organics to doctors, whatever, find somebody to supply resouces to. So your harvester fleet will be half resource supplying to pay for the half that is getting your grind steel. (option 3)-sell your soul. PAs always like to have somebody they can count on to make them good weapons, often times they will supply you with as much as you need, if you become a member and promise to make them weapons dirt cheap.

My road to master was grind as described by above, I had a resource supplying business already so my education was already paid for because of a housing boom on Scylla at the time. But the most important thing to remember is if you don't feel like grinding don't. Resist activities that promote burnout. Macros are your friends and can speed it up a lot, And find some good CDs to jam to while you do it.

Any other questions?

As you noticed, I have given up. I can't stand seeing the same questions several times a day
anymore. So, I updated the document from earlier and have posted it.

Here is the thread.

What they said.

However, I would do the following:

Start gathering steel. A lot of steel. No, really, a lot. You need on the order
of 400k of steel. For me it was frustrating not to have enough steel. So focus on
get 30-50k and do fun stuff while you wait. Then grind that out, repeat.

Oh, and we really need a FAQ. I give. I'll work on it.
