Hi all,

I play on Chimeara and will soon be master weaponsmith. I will mainly be making stuff for guild and customers but not in bulk via a vendor. I have some questions.

  • What is BER?

  • How does experimentation work?

  • I have the scythe blade but how do i find the other rarish schematics like dx6b rifle or whatever it is and featherweight pistol....

  • Is there a website which lists weapons and good good guide to what dmg they should do. I madfe some weapons but didnt know if they was any good cause i had nothing really to compare to.

  • How much difference does the quality of the weaponcrafting tool make to the quality of the weapons and parts made?

Thanks in advance guys

1) BER is Base Extraction Rate. Basically this is the maximum extraction rate for a harvestor, if it were placed on a 100% concentration. The higher the BER, the better.

2) To experiment you need to be standing near a General/Droid/Weapon crafting station. Some schematics can't be used unless you are near a private crafting station (as opposed to a public one). You receive a number of experimentation points depending on your Weapon Experimentation skill (basically one experimentation point for every 10 points in experimentation skill). A master WS has 10 experimentation points to work with.

Weapons have four areas that may be experimented on (Damage,Range,Durability and Efficiency)by placing points into each field, then hitting the Experiment button. Most WS fully experiment the damage field first, then place any leftover points into one of the other three fields. Note that resource quality determines the maximum number of points you can put into any given field.

The number of points you experiment at once is up to your personal style. Some smiths experiment one point at a time, others do two, three, four points at a time. Unless working on a custom enhanced weapon, I like to put in as many points as I can before hitting the experiment button. For the most part you should strive for all Great or Amazing successes. Unless you are doing a custom weapon using loot or enhancements, you will probably want to dump any weapon that comes out with only a Good or Moderate success, and certainly if you get a Critical Failure.

3) The various schematics are obtained in a wide variety of ways. You get the Featherweight from Jabba's Themepark, the Enhanced E-11 from the Imperial Themepark, the Modified Republic Blaster from the Rebel Themepark, the DE-10 schem drops in the Deathwatch Bunker, as does the Hack. The Scythe is obtained from a guy in Mos Entha (don't have the wp handy). DXR-6b schem is obtained from the Geonosian Caves, as is Geonosian Sonic Blaster.

4) Because resources vary from server to server, the best way to gauge the quality of your weapons on your server is to visit several other weaponsmith vendors, especially the well-known smiths.

5) As far as I know, there's no conclusive evidence that crafting tool or crafting station quality makes a difference in experimentation. However, I think most smiths use the best tools/stations they can afford, just in case it does make a difference.
