Thread: Change commando disposable weapons

Ok, its impossible to find a vendor for our disposables. It just costs way to much for weaponsmiths to craft a one time use weapon. A weaponsmith and I were discussing this and come up with an idea to revamp our weapons. All the disposables weapons are no longer disposable. We can use the rocketlauncher indeffinitly..the different is that now there are "clips". the initial weapon would cost a lot, like now. But the clips would be made cheap. The clips would act just like powerups, just drag and drop into the weapon. Each clip can hold lets say 35 shots.

I think you are going to havea hard time getting the highest damage weapons in the game made cheap.

You say High damage but in fact they don't do that much damage. I being a Commando have experienced this wretched realization. The weapons are slow, unaccurate, and expensive. A Rifleman can do more damage with a T21 per shot. Believe me when I say this, it's been tested. Apparently there is something wrong with the Armor Piercing coding or something like that.

I say scrap the HW as they are now, instead make one launcher craftable, and let players load it with regular grenades

My utopia in this matter is this:

One launcher, can be experimented for range, ham and "clip size"

One "rocket" part that have to be loaded in the launcher (one is used up per shot), wich can be experimented for range

Commandos can then choose what grenade to load in the launcher along with the "rocket" and blast away

I like this idea a lot, incorporate that with the clips for all other weapons, would make weaponsmithing more interesting for sure

Yes, sounds a good idea. Could also give newer 'smiths an area of the market in making munitions for the clips? Put most of the complexity into the unlimited use launcher.

All in all might make the heavy support weapons a more lucrative market.

Um.......

Heavy weapons are a piece of cake to make....

In fact, most are *easier* to make than a T21, as they don't require any specific resources.

The rocket launcher is a bit of a pain to make, in fairness, but I still stock them.

Anyone who doesn't stock the Heavy Weapons on the basis that they're "too difficult" to make, probably doesn't make guns at all. Or else they're just talking crap.

As for Commando weapons just not working right, well, that's an issue with SOE. I'm aware it's part of your top 5 (and has been for a while).

A *bit of a pain* to make?!? They are the hardest thing for a weaponsmith to craft: each rocket launcher requires four subcomponents, and one of those subcomponents itself requires four subcomponents. There are nine separate crafting steps, all of them requiring factory runs. On top of that, there are 19 separate resources to keep track of, with 30 different stat requirements on them.

I made 50 rocket launchers several months ago, put them on my vendor for an insane price (92k), and just washed my hands of the whole situation. Every two or three weeks somebody buys one. Once these sell out, that'll be the end. I'll probably never make them again.

A bit of a pain indeed.

Yup, that's 'a bit of a pain' in my book.

Why? Because:

the quality of the protons doesn't matter a damn.

I make crates of Weapon Scopes anyway.

I make crates of ABPHs anyway.

I make crates of APFMs anyway.

So, basically, I *actually* need to keep track of "Iron", "Metal", "Metal", and "Steel".

And only Con and OQ matter for them.

Which is kinda covered by my standard good Blaster resources anyway.

I'm *really* not seeing the problem here?

I agree, I stock all of the heavy weapons even the rl's. They are really not that hard/expensive to make. The heavy particle cannons are by far the best from my experience as a master commando, they dont miss often, they hit very hard, and you cna pick them up relatively cheap. They are very easy to make, also on the rocket launchers they are not "hard" to make the resources are not that hard to get. Just devote one of your factories to making these over a week or so or just have alot of factories.

Ket,

You are right, they are not "hard" to make, just tedious. When it takes almost 30 subcomponents to make 1 weapon, the factory time involved isn't really worth it to me. I haven't even assembled a RL in months, and that was only for a personal friend that wanted to have some fun as a master commando before surrendering.

I would LOVE to see the ability to add craftable 'rocket packs' or 'energy packs', sounds like a great idea. Someone could shop around for their most uber RL base and shop around for the rocket packs, maybe buy some very nice ones for a krayt hunt or some cheapo ones just to mess around with.

Adding ammo clips would probably add the ability for tons more customizing which would probably be a bit more fun than all of this custom looted schematic stuff that has been forced on us as of late. Imagine a special hollow point clip for a striker pistol that would actually make it viable, or whatever.. Possibilities are endless.

Also, this ability is already coded (simply mind you) in the lightsabers we have now. They have a base that doesn't decay as well as a color crystal (well for color) and damage crystal. They CAN do it.

Hang on.

You don't do Factory runs of ABPHs already? Of Scopes? Of APFMs?

If you don't, well, fair enough. You must have a hell of a time stocking any blasters.

If you do, well, all you need do in that case is make some minimal Proton Grenades, and there ya go.

As for rocket packs or ammo clips, players would quickly decide that one of them was 'best', and that's all we'd have to make.

Boredom.....
