Thread: A new WS

So, I have a question for all the experienced Weaponsmith's out there. I have been in game for quite some time, but I have recently decided to make my alt a WS, and am currently 3444. Now, neither of my characters is terribly rich, only a few million credits. I am not looking to be the best WS on my server, per se, but I would at least like my products to be competitive. But, lacking the millions upon millions of credits it would take to buy all the extra experimentation tapes and uber resources to use, what can I do? Do the experimentation and assembly foods make that big a difference? Does crafting in a research center? As I said, I have no notion of becoming the best on my server, but am more interested in keeping my main decently equipped and being able to provide a decent weapon for a reasonable cost to guildmates. Please give me some pointers, all, on what I can do to make the best weapons possible under the circumstances, and any hints on how to improve said circumstances over time. Thanks a bunch.

"Soon," he said.

Order of Importance:

Resources

These will make you the best or worst weaponsmith on your server and there is not much you can do to overcome the limitations of your resources.

If you don't have alot of money; specialize in a certain weapon or weapon group to minimize the types of resources you need:

Grenades are good now and many resource collectors don't view grenade resources as being valuable because they don't follow the OQCD standard of most other weapons

Alot of weaponsmiths will spcailize in Melee weapons as most players are melee now and melee weapons have a much better profit margin.

Customer service

Make sure your vendors are always stocked, promote your vendor ingame and on the forums, answer all the questions asked of you. Over the long-term repeat customers and the word of mouth advertising they do for you will be a great help to your continued success.

Force sensitive skills

FS experimentation has helped me more than I could have imagined, I can't say enough good about this. Before I had this 1 in 10 weapons would be trashed because of moderate successes, I can't remember my last moderate since I received this skill.

Weapon SEA's

These are invaluable for making enhanced weapons, they will save you from waisting loot because of moderate successes or assembly failures. Not very valuable for regular weapons but a good marketing tool because the majority of your customers assume +12 is better.

Your best bet is, go melee or grenades. Dont bother with weapons unless you aspire to be the best on your server. The resources for guns are insane.... I have a laundry list now of about 30 resources alone, just so I can make the components For melee weapons, you only need like 5 resources for the components. So take the easy route, make good melee weapons, and once you make some money, you might be able to get into the ranged weapondry scene.
