What should I be trying to get higher? I know if I decrease the speed of the weapon the Base DPS will increase.

So what should i be expirmenting on? Speed or Damage?

What i've been doing right now is Expirementing on Damage until i can't anymore then if i have any skill points left i put into speed. The only part I do differently is the Weapon scope i put it all in to Speed.

Also anybody know if a specials damage is calculated on the DPS of the weapon or its Damage Range? I use my920 (pupped)Max Damage FWG5 and with Improved Body shot i average 750, and rarely get up to 1k damage.

for a rifle, I carry one rifle wih an very high damage, and then a high dps one

use snipershot/conceal with the high damage, then swich to high dps rifle after that.

and your delay till the next shot is dependant on the speed of your first. End Result.. DPS is the determinant even with switching weapons out. You may hit harder, but the delay till your next available shot makes DPS still the main factor.

I have been experimenting with this too (as a combat toon)

speed=faster, lower damagehits, burns through action faster as a result

damage=slower, harder hitting, burns through action slower as a result

I like my weapons around 2.5ish speedthat puts my modded speed around 1.3-1.5 secs and when I am on action food keeps my shots spaced just enough apart that I don't burn up my action too fast.

You may also consider attack cost. my favorite carbine is only 85 cost

hope this helps a little

Thanks for your replies.

Most of my weapons come out to around 2.1 speed right now (if i remember correcly haven't made a great deal of weapons yet).

Attack cost on the other hand is something i've considered, although i think it would be hard to get it down to 85 now, without affecting both speed and damagei think. All my pre-cu pistols are around 84 cost, most of my weapons that i've made are around 120-125 cost using post CU components.

On special damage, I made two weapons up with same componets and experimented one out for raw damage and the other one for special damage. Of course both affected the DPS, but raw damage had a higher DPS by 15 pts. So untill I hear of a reason to put experimentation into special damage I won't.

the delay on my next shot is dependant on the rifle I fired it with. The fact that I can usually only get 1 snipershot off in an engagement means that I need to make it count though, dfferent specials have different cooldown speeds. use sniper shot with high damage rifle, then switch to high dps for head shots/snareshots/startleshots.

The actual damage done by a weapon is literally = (min + max) / 2 +E

E = Elemental Damage

Then DPS = [(min + max) / 2 +E] / S

S = Speed

Your min and max damage effect the overall damage and including speed all 3 factors affect DPS.

So they are not exclusive from each other.

0 Action = 0 DPS

I go for Damage first then AC, but do speed and AC on subcomponents
