Thread: Formula for converting Estimated DPS into an individuals Modified DPS?

Does anyone know what all of the factors there are, which determine Modified Damage Per Second (DPS)?

In addition to that - and perhaps more importantly, does anyone know what kind of modifier to use, to calculate your potential Modified DPS - by looking at a weapons Estimated DPS?

The reason I ask is the Modified DPS I see on weapons on Vendors appear to me - to bethat the Weaponsmith that made the weapon - not what MY modified DPS would be using that weapon. for the most part - because of the curse they call skill points - most Weaponsmiths I know, do not have heavy combat templates (as Weaponsmith takes a fair number of skillpoints which prevents this). As such - the Modified DPS displayed on a weapon in a vendor is drastically below what it would be in the hands of an end user with an exclusive combat template.

In light of that - I'm looking for a way to make sense of what I'm looking at when shopping for weapons.

If I can simply use a modifier/mulitplier (formula)with the Estimated DPS - and accurately calculate what MY Modified DPS would be - if the weapon were in my hands - then I would know whether or not I'm looking at aweapon that is good for meor not.

As a side note - as I'm sure such a formula exists for calculating this kind of thing (or will shortly) - perhaps it might be a good idea for Merchants to post a sign of some sort, in their extablishment or in the vendor its self - which might detail this formula and how to use it.

This way - if players are able to see that you have a weapon which is "uber" in their hands, as opposed to what appears to be an unremarkable DPS - they wouldbe more likely to buy that weapon since they'll know what they are getting in advance - not just "hoping" the DPS will climb to some anonymous number.

Just a thought.

In any event - thanks in advance for your help.

EST base: Min + Max / 2 + elemental dmg / spd = dps

Same equation applies to modified dpsalthough it would be based off your modified weapon speed and not the weapons base speed.

AH, but how do you calculate modified speed?

Whats the relationship between a weapon's speed and your various speed modifiers (General Ranged Speed + Pistol Speed forinstance)

Whats the magical formula for working this out?

You can work out Estimated DPS without this, but obviously Modified DPS requires that you have your modified speed results available to plug into the rest of the overall formula to accurately calculate Modified DPS.

Thanks - and sorry if this is a stupid question.
