AMMUNITION

Plus, it gives the up and coming weaponsmiths a way to make money actually using their trade

probably one of the better ideas I've seen on the subject of making a space in the game for less-than-masters.

would probably have to make it not subject to experimentation, or we're back to square one.

yep, thats what i was thinking. NO experimentation required. Just like traps in scout. NO bonuses to damage, speed, range, etc. They should act just like droid batteries. Also, this would allow disposable heavy wpns to be made permanent. It just takes resource heavy ammo to operate them. That would rock. Of course this could be in a higher tier munitions category, but every novice should be able to make projectile ammo. Hell, i'd buy it from em and put it on my vendor.

This is a good idea. Gives an opportunity for novice WS to sub-contract or apprentice for a master WS in a similar fasion to the way master Architects hire novice Archs to make certain architect components.

another poster who doesn't have a clue what a money sink is.

FYI money sinks take money out of the game. Your idea simply moves it from one player to another.

A money sink would be an NPC vendor that sells something, or maintenance fees, or anything that involves players transferring money to the system instead of to other players. Crafted ammunition would just be a timesink and a pain in the ass for everyone.

Combat classes would want them in crates so they don't have to fill their inventory with dozens of separate items. Low-level weaponsmiths would get essentially no experience from it because they won't be able to sell hand-crafted stacks, and their resources/time would probably be better invested in grinding and missions than trying to craft and sell an item that would most likely be very very cheap.

Unless there is some mechanism discouraging or preventing masters from making ammunition, low-level smiths would never get any business anyway. Why would someone run out to some unknown vendor in the middle of nowhere to buy ammo if they can just get it off a master's vendor when they buy their gun?

And you would'nt want to make ammo in factories because you would only get 10% of the XP if you stand near it........and that hardly works anyway. I do agree that projectile type guns should fire some type of projectile though aka-ammo.

you never know, they might re-implement things like they had it in beta...where master weaponsmiths could only make top end components and guns, any of the low level stuff had to be made FOR them by a lower level weaponsmith.

If novices could make it. It would sell for 3per.

Oops, I mean 3 cpu. If there is no expirimentation. It will be just like WUK's, or architect stuff. So novices would just assemble resources. Instead of just selling them for 3cpu. Just a thought.

I stand corrected. Sorry to have exasperated you to the point of collapse. The main reason I wanted ammo was so that

My commando could have permanenthvy wpmsthat could be reloaded (instead of being disposable)which is in effect the same thing but the statistics would go off the non-disposable part of the launcher.

And novice smiths could have something to make money off of while actually gaining xp in their class.

Honestly I could give a crap about money sinks. So I guess in order to turn it into a money sink it would have to be npc vendor only. Which would make the whole thing rather pointless

Well, ammunition would really be a RESOURCE sink. but that would effectively be a money sink as there would be more vendor transactions, and more mine maintenance, etc.
