Thread: When will weaponsmithing become fun?
So far, most of the changes made to the class, and crafters in general have made the profession annoying, boring, tiresome and a lot like work. Just curious when they are going to add some fun stuff to make the profession more enjoyable since some of us actually enjoy the crafting of good weapons, not just getting money from selling crates of weapons.
Weaponsmithing, and crafting in general just has a VERY long way to go before it's really enjoyable. I've had a lot of fun with my alt going out hunting and exploring and taking chances...the only chances I take on weaponsmithing is when my not very random, very frequent Critical Failure is going to pop up and make me reload my schematic...since all that a critical failure is, is a chance for the dev's to take resources out of the game. Why don't people ever get a critical failure while firing a gun...or the chamber jams for projectile weapons. Why do crafters get ass **edit**ed by the dev's on a daily basis...this game is getting really ridiculously **edit** and petty...
Wait, what changes are particularly negative? I can't think of anything, except for the nerfing of manual sampling. (and even then they added those "fun" sampling events!). They made factories not give 100% xp way back when, but running factories isn't really "fun" either.
I mean, crafting isn't, ultimately, where you go for excitementin a game. So, if you're having a harder time experimenting or something... that isn't really a major change.
So, in conclusion, crafting has never been fun, so what are you smoking?

It may not be exciting, but neither is spamming /overChargeShot1 (to me at least). I think crafting is fun, and more importantly I think being a crafter is fun. I like it when people I've never met say hi while I'm tagging along as dead weight on an endor misison. I like it when people come to me looking for that melee weapon they can't find, and presenting it to them a minute later. I'm not smoking anything, I just enjoy it and take the nerfs/fixes/patches/bugs in stride.
Sthing I thought that could be nice is if we could make our alloys, for example a chemist profession who could craft some new metals like iron + carbonate ore to make a new steel that we could use in crafting weapons, andrefine some other resource to try to improve 1 stat with of course the possibility of screwing it up,that could be a solution to replace some specific resources with poor stats in required fields
I know we'll certainly never see that but thought it could be a way to solve problem with crappy resources and hopefully be fun as well ![]()
Eggnog, i think crafting is kinda of cool too. but that's because I'm a big nerd. It's just not "fun" in the traditional game-sense of the word.
And I can't think of any good reason why it's become less fun recently.
Weaponsmithing can be quite stressful, or enjoyable, depending on your approach to it... If you are out there, trying to constantly be better or just keep up with your competition, logging in every day just to survey the galaxy...dashing to the hot mining spots with your heavy harvesters and bags of cash and energy, only to find you cant place a harvester anywhere, and so and so's harvesters are already up...it gets frustrating.
I finally had to just relax and realize a few things......
there are guys out there ill never be able to beat because either they exploit or play 24/7
an average of 200k or so in the bank is enough
giving away rockin Krayt weapons to your friends and watching them freak out and dance around over it is way more rewarding than selling it for 200k and never seeing it again
there are plenty of sales to go around...you dont need to sell every gun to every person who needs one
you give away enough guns, help enough people, and soon you dont have to survey anymore, people will tell you when the good stuff is up and bring it to you too...just make em a weapon when they get there
get the hell outside and use some of those guns....I manage to hold my own (solod a kimogila last night) because i always have the finest weapons to use
get in a nice small pa with a good support structure....make a few guns, watch your stockpiles of things you need miraculously grow while you are offline
so the vendor is empty again? screw it ill make a new batch soon and they will sell fine if they are reasonably good
dont feel like getting in tell hell again? take down the title and wander around incognito
help those annoying noobs (j/k) with thier 400 creds...they wont forget your kindness and will buy a 20k laser rifle in about a week heheh
most importantly , dont get caught up in the whole - "i have to make 100 fwg5's tonight so i can sell em as fast as possible so I can make 100 more" thing
works for me
