Because colored names on weapons prevents the game from showing when a weapon has a powerup applied or not. Without a colored name a weapon with a powerup shows the name in yellow. If you color your weapon name you won't have my business.
Well, I'll weigh into this.
I generally append "Drak \#FF0000\RHA\#FFFFFF\" on to the end of my weapons. When a powerup is applied, the color is prepended on to the beginning of the weapon name. This means that the weapon in inventory still shows up yellow until you hit the guild tag at the end, at which point it is red. This is an acceptable use of colors in weapon naming that does not impact intended functionality
I color them simply for ease of distinguishing items on my vendors. C12's were gray, C22's were yellow, Cryobans were pinkish, Glops were green, etc. Now the only distinguisher is price.

Not a bad use, but......the different names seam to distinguish them pretty well to me. Cryoban, Glop, C-22, C-12 as long as the customer can read there shouldn't be a problem.
