Just threw a schematic for300 Adv V-Blade Units in my factory, and when I used /examine on it, it tells me theyll take 320 seconds each to make.

**edit** ]

Thats 5minutes 20 seconds per unit. Complete weapons dont even take that long to craft, can we add this to the very very long list of Weaponsmith problems?

How is this a problem?

My subcombines for my rocket launchers and even FWG5's...their factory runs can take from 7 to 11 hours to finish. 340 seconds is a LONG one...longer than any I've seen. But, at the same time, melee weapons, even by hand, have always taken longer to craft than any other kind of weapon. So, 340 seconds is not at all surprising to me.

And factories are not at all faster than doing it by hand...they are always A LOT longer than doing it by hand...always have been.

Not sure I follow what is exactly broken here.

8 seconds * complexity = timeto make oneitem

Exactly. It always has been this way since day one to the best of my knowledge.

Im not saying its broken, nor am I saying factories should be faster, ker-rist folks, calm down, what Im astounded at is the inordinate amount of time thats taken to just craftthis single component, when the time taken by the factory to create other larger more complex items is far less. Ive been crafting weapons for a bloody long time, Im not some new born to the skill. Cheers for the input though.

Actually, you're right.

The Advanced Vibro Unit is 40 complexity.

Every single other component doesn't even come close. The highest it gets is 20 for Adv Blaster parts, and then Projectile parts hanging around 4-10 complexity. Doesn't make sense, there's no reason that it should take twice, and even three times as long for one subcomponent over any other subcomponent.

If you'd like to think of it in real life terms, imagine slapping a computer together from the ground up. Give me a motherboard, the cards, the cables, the miscellaneous perhiperals, and I can slap it together in much less time than if (even if I could) I were tobuild the motherboard, the cards, the cables, the miscellaneous peripherals. I don't think it's unreasonable to assume the subcomponents of any item can be more complex than the final product. I'd say perhaps the addition of the component could be as simple as plugging it in. Making the motherboard, and making a video card, as in themselves are quite complex compared to linking them together - which is just simply sliding the card in.

Remember the building of the overall product doesn't mean rehashing the subcomponents again, they're made, it's just putting them all together

great comparison but i agree with the orignal poster that factories take way too long. For a casual player 5 minutes for 1 component is a long long time.

Ok, just thrown a schem in for Vibro lances, which use 2 VBU's and 3 materials for the build.240seconds each to make.

AVBU's are 3 materials for a build, at 320 seconds.

Yes, they are a lower complexity.

But it still isnt right, when you think about it, the complexity is based on the players skills (I guess?), but a factory doesnt have any skills, so the complexity with which I work shouldnt carry onto the factory.

Er, I dont even know if that makes sense, or where Im going with this, maybe then can drop the complexity toaround 25-30.

Anyhow, Ive also found out from my GF a lot of medical components take around 300 seconds each, shes basically told me to stop whinging.

Heh.

Each item has a base complexity that cannot be lowered. Each experimentation attempt will increase complexity by 1 - ten attempts with one point will raise it by 10, one attempt with 10 points will raise it by 1.

Most weaponsare 20-25 complexity and most components are 15-20 with a few exceptions like projectile parts (4-10) and the adv VBU which takes longer than everything except the expendable commando weapons.
