Thread: What's the deal with usage xp?
Does it even exist? Is it broken?
I have weapons in my friends hands, have them kill something, andI get nothing. Is there something I'm missing?
Does it matter that the weapons are sliced?
Thanks for any insight.
1. You don't get Usage Exp for using your own weapons, other people have to use them.
2. Usage Exp stops coming in for a particular item when the total amount of Usage Exp accrued equals the amount you got for crafting the item.
I had a friend 'test' it by killing stuff with a two-handed axe while I was not doing any smithing.
It accrues in gradual chunks. It seems to maybe, if you get all of it, be equal to about the XP of crafting the weapon in the first place.
One of holo's posts about clothing decay implied that UXP was based on decay rate. So who knows, maybe overcharge shot will get you UXP faster. ![]()
Previously, it hasbeen said that you have to be online, and on the same planet to get the UXP. This may still be true.
Created a bunch of d18's (i've only got 2 boxes of ws currently... rofl) and had my buddy use em. What i observed was that it would increase my xp for about 5-10 kills on his end and then I wouldn't get any more xp, then he'd switch to a dif weap I craftedand the process would start again. Guessing that the xp granted is either 1/2 what you got to make it or 100%... no clue - didn't actually count up the total i get for making em OR what i got when he was killing.
Just noted that the xp quit comming in after he finished off 5-10 of something. (didn't seem to matter what) At first it would come in at 15 or so points a pop.. then drops off quickly to 1 point a kill or so, then nothing.
hope that helps. I usually try to keep a bunch of em on my vendor for clannies to grab and use for a while. i don't expect them to keep using em.. they are truely bad.. <hehe>
J/Tharg!
UXP is a wonderful idea that's implemented very poorly.
Ideally, UXP should be significantly more than the value of simply crafting the item, but that UXP value should be attained through a lifetime of "normal" use, as opposed to being "grindable" by giving someone a crate of pistols and having them cycle through them quickly.
In a nutshell, UXP should encourage people to actually make and sell useful weapons, rather than grinding out cheap crud (or rifle barrels) that doesn't contribute anything to the game.
