Ok, today I was in Coronet and I needed my pistols repaired. One was a sliced 210 dmg, 2.2 speed scatter pistol made by Enott, and the other, a sliced FWG5, 181 dmg, 1.9 speed with a decorative scope made by Pox Pulsar. I saw a master weaponsmith standing nearby (name isnt needed). I asked him if he could repair my guns and he said yes, however, he also said that despite he was using 98% kits that it could fail sometimes... I didn't know what he meant by fail, so I said go ahead. I have ahd my weapons fixed SO MANY times before, and nothing has ever happened. However, he said seconds later that the "scatter fell out".. I said "whoa what do you mean?". he said "that it's not useable anymore". I was ready to blow the city up when he said that. On my standards that was a good gun that I paid good money for. Now, after my ramble, here comes the question: is it true that when one tries to repair a weapon, it is possible for it to "fail" and for the weapon to become unuseable? Or is this guy just scamming me? I'd like to think not, but since I have never ever had this situation before I'd like an answer from some other master WS's. thanks.

It's possible for a master weaponsmith to only 'marginally repair' an item and for it to lose condition points. However, I have never failed and caused an item to become unusable since I started repairing for people, which I've only done since becoming a Master.

When I first started the game, I toyed around with low quality repair kits and the like, once I did "fail" and made the weapon unusable. However, since mastering artisan and then weaponsmith I have never "failed" on a repair. I use 99+% repair kits most of the time (since im usually fixing someone's prized kryat super uber T-21 or something of the like ) Most of the time I get repairs with minor blemishes, though once or twice I have had it "reduce the overall condition" though its not real often.

Im summary, I suppose it *is* possible for a complete failure of the repair and loss of the weapon at master level, but I personally have not had it happen to me.

I've repaired a number of weapons myself (asa master weaponsmith), and let me tell you: it is ENTIRELY possible to completely destroy a weapon when attempting to repair it. It's rare, but I've unfortunately done it myself - with a sword I considered "one of a kind."

Deathrobe, Logix... no reason to get all bent out of shape.... that wasn't a WS-flame post I made...

it was just something new i've never experienced and I was conerned and curious, that is all. The gun is replaceable and I was onlyslightly annoyedat first because I didn't know it could happen. I wasn't angry at the WS, only the concept. And guys, we really do (i do atleast) appreciate what artisans like yourself do out there. I could never personally be one and I give you props for your hard work.

I believe i would be speaking for every weaponsmith out thier in the universe

stop your crying better yet never by a gun from us EVER BETTER YET WHY DONT U TRY READING THE PATCH NOTES SOMETIME..

I wouldnt respond to this but somethings get me very angry...

WE the (MASTER WEAPONSMITHS CAN FAIL ON A REPAIR REGARDLESS OF repair kit %

the difference being that we get a bonus to repairs that you dont..NON the less FEEL FREE TO REPAIR YOUR OWN WEAPONS..

Perhapes im annoyed because its almost amazes me that people have no idea what these patches do then come on these boards and complain..

bottom line yes we have a better chance at repairing weapons then non-weaponsmiths.....

YES we can totally destroy a gun

matter of fact we can destroy tons of guns..

thats why i repair for free if someone tips me they tip me if not no big deal..

P.S the whole darn community should be happy that the weaponsmiths continue to SERVE the community by supplying weapons, without us there really would be no game...REMEMBER THAT

You are the reason that so many Weaponsmiths refuse to repair weapons.

There are three (possibly more) outcomes on weapon repairs:

Repair weapon with minor blemishes - reduce max durability by 40 or so

Marginal success with durability reduced - reduce max durability by 100+

Critical failure - durability is set to 0 or 1, min and max damage are set to 0 or 1, weapon is not completely destroyed but is now unusable

As was previously stated: repairing weapon can occur. As a master weaponsmith it happens a lot less now than when i was a novice. But happens still it does. One factor that may not have been mentioned is the effect of the weapon being 'sliced' having on the repair. The slice dramatically increases the chance of a magrinal success or total failure of the repair. (reasoning for this is that the slice is a modification of the original design of the weapon).

This is why all elite master weaponsmiths sell and advertise their weapons as unsliced. Or specify which are sliced and which are not sliced.

*And just a personal rant of my own. I always advise peeps that a repair can fail and they always say "yea go ahead". Then if it fails they act like you stole something from them. Like i can't make and give away as samples a gun twice as good as their 39-120 4.0 scout blaster!*

I always tell those who ask me to repair their guns that I might fail, and it can become unusable, I've failed once.. and it was ofcourse on a sliced krayt carbine worth over half a mill, it had a 30% damage slice.. *cries* the lady I teied to help later joined my guild, no hard feelings she just went and bought a new.

Thats also the only time I tried to repair away from my +43.5 crafting station.. I'd like to know if the crafting station makes it easier to repair or not? :-)

Its possible, even using 99% WRK's there's been a many a times when I've failed a repair on a weapon...even at master weaponsmith. When it fails completely, the condition, speed, min damage, max damage, wound, range and HAM all drop to zero, effectively making the gun a nice hood ornament.

It does happen, i usually give the gun(hood ornament) back to prove that it did...just so it proves i am not lying about it.

I do the same as Pei, I have only failed once and it left the laser with a 1/1 condition. I give them it back so they know I ain't kidding. It was only a laser carb so I made him a new one, he was happy.

If the same weapon is repaired multiple times the condition goes down, and eventually it will fail. Just a matter of time.
