Certainly can't say anything positive about the path to Master Weaponsmith. Wait! There are effective, fast macros to minimize carpal tunnel.

Unfortunately, this profession is only really viable at the master level.

Luzenit, I made quite alot of friends, money, and fun even though I only made master 3 weeks ago. People bought my weapons even though I only had Techniques 4 because I took such time to make them and was careful, and my prices beat out those of the masters. I made enough of a living to keep 6 medium extractors going constantly and I never needed help. People knew my brand name and came back because they knew if they were buying from me they were buying the best I could make. I know its easy to be cynical in this game, but just because you didnt have fun until you mastered does not mean it wasnt possible... I was able to for several months.

I've been a Master Weaponsmith on Intrepid for several months now, and I still enjoy the profession. Granted, there are still some changes I would like to see, but even after doing it for a few months, I still find enough diversity to keep me entertained. I enjoy tracking the resources in my galaxy and finding replacements for what I've already got in my stash. I've seen the entire galaxycountless times over, and although I'm not neck deep in cash, I've never advertised hard and heavy, and I make enough to keep my harvesters running and pay for my travel tickets. It's fun to see people come into your shop which is off the beaten path and realize they've found a little treasure chest for weapons. I've made some good friends from my repeat customers, and there's nothing like the feeling when somebody new catches you at home at the crafting station and says "I had to stop in and see what you've got. So and so can't stop talking about Ehan Flamethrowers and Ehan Launcher Pistols and Ehan this gun and Ehan that gun."That is a real compliment to me.

Good things about weaponsmithing...

Um...you can make your own weapons.

You can make weapons that look cooler than the default images.

You can experiment to create better weapons (or get a "moderate" success and royally screw up the weapon -- oops! Negative comment there...).

Meet more people once you can actually participate in the economy (IE: expert/Master level).

I wanted to compile some of the things people think that Sony got right with the WS profession. So, what does everyone like about the path to becoming a master weaponsmith, actually being one, and, if anything, what you look forward to seeing?

The base mechanics for the crafting I think are pretty solid, specifically the resource attributes, components, and factory usage. Although, the experimentationsystem is still mediocre in my book, since itcouldbebalanced better.

Any other praise?
