I play two different toons on my server, one of which is a WS and merchant. The problem I have is the HAM on the weapons I am making. I am enjoying decent damage with the weapons but I am suffering in both speed and HAM. Because the economy dictates competition between the crafters on the server I figured maybe the people on this forum could help me with mebecause we are all from different servers and wouldn't be in competition with one another.

Experimenting the HAM down seems to be near useless, only about 1 point per experimentation point used. An example ofmy laser carbine: 74-301 damage 4.6 speed 38% wound 46/76/38 HAM. The damage is nice but the speed and HAMare not very good. What are some good techniques or procedures to help me with this? I am trying to learn and produce quality products for my customers.

I am not just a weaponsmith but also a 4-4-4-3 pistoleer, and when I go out on group hunts and raids I am always buffed from a doctor. I feel comfortable enough to say that prettymuch everyone is running around buffed when they plan to do anything involving combat in this game now. In which case you really dont have to worry about hams at all now. I can spam Fan Shot till the cows come home and not lower my action bar now even using a dx2.

- It's time the devs end the bitter fighting by giving the community a Non Jedi server. We have a few servers with TINY populations that could be changed to this ruleset. I support this idea because it punishes noone. - You can support it too. Click Here!

While I agree with the removal of stocks if interested in dropping HAM costs, but I've got scopes that are 0 on the HAM costs, +3 on wound and +10 on ideal range. I HIGHLY suggest you make scopes for your weapons if possible. People will look at the extra range and wound % and be impressed in most cases. Just make sure you worry about the HAM first. If you can get it down to 0 HAM without even experimenting on wound, you'll still get a +2 and +10 on range.

Thank you all very very much. Renescent, Strife, Eeman, and PadawanChong. I tried your suggestion and it worked great. I knew it was something simple, it never dawned on me to omit an advanced component. I kept trying to experiment with the components over and over and over. I guess it was one of those forrest through the trees scenarios. Again thank you.

'Most' combat types don't really care about the HAM in my experience. They want either damage or speed (or both).

At some point, Weaponsmiths that have been around for a bit will generally be working with the same resources so weapons should be fairly similar across the board.
