Thread: New Weaponsmith with some questions on tool quality

I just reached master WS, and trying to research crafting tools and stations. Seems like the search function isn't working as intended, so I was hoping you gentlemen and ladies could help me out.
Does the qualities of the weapon crafting tool and the private crafting station have an effect on the quality of the items produced? I have been trying to locate some decent tools, but everything I find is 14% or lower. Thanks in advance for any and all information.

higher quality affects the rolls on successes in experimentation is my understanding
fewer good and lower successes on rolls
so you won't get any of the dreaded moderate successes if you have a 41+ station 14+ tools and are in a research center in my experience
if you are on ahazi or sunrunner my vendors have tools of at least 14.5 ...check sig

When did this change? I left the game in September last year and came back March this year. Back then it was generally agreed that the crafting station number had no bearing whatsoever on your results. Did that change while I was gone?

To be honest just go for the best you can get. If you want to make the best quality stuff don't set yourself benchmarks just go for the best you can afford. Usually there'll br 14+ tools and 40+ stations around. Flurry has 15.00 and 44.59 stations from the 1 day crafting patch.

I cant remember exactly when it was - must be more than a year ago - but one of the devs stated that quality of tools and crafting stations does not have any influence on crafting but that will change somewhen in one of the future patches. Because that is a major change it will be part of the patch notes of course.
So far I did not read anything about a change and personally I believe that tool quality has as much influence as it had in the first week of SWG: none.
I have very few criticals and moderates using my droid (capped) or my fantastic static crafting station (-2 or something), I dont have anydifference in using my 14.xx tools or my 7.x tools.
Just for feeling good look for highend tools and stations is my understanding these days

i have to disagree giamai. i have tools of about 14.99 and a crafting station of 41 or higher in a research center and i still get moderate successes so it doesn't completely eliminate that chance. you might have FS experimentation too. if so, this is probably why you never see moderates anymore. i had FS experimentation on my main, jowacca cause he was a doc and when i crafted, it was rare to see anything below a great success. i miss that enough that i'm getting my alt FS just so i can get the experimentation tree.
