Thread: Some basic questions
Um you want the best stat possible in both those catagories. I use a basic formula when its fifty percent. I add the numbers up then compare other materials for their combined stats. 800 800 is preferable to 500 500.
Weapons upgrade kits are a dime a dozen. The game is saturated with them, and there is no room for improvement do not even waste the materials unless you get asked specifically for them. Smugglers like to haggle you down to the point where you merely waste time and money makeing them. If that were not bad enough go to any busy place and you will hear people screaming out they are selling wuks, and you will see how dirt cheap they are going for.

I've just purchased JTL... and I have a few questions. I went the Privateer route.
1> Can I outfit missiles and such in my free basic fighter?
You can fit anything you can use in the fighter - the key thing being the mass and energy limits and the equipment certification level.
2> Do I need to outfit a Missle Launcher to use missiles?
I have to say I haven't tried to use one at novice - but the first missile skill is at 0100 pilot so I'm not sure you can till you get there - but talk to your pilot trainer - do 4 missions for him and he will give you a skill even if you haven't banked the xp.
Edit: To be clearer - yes you need a launcher to fire a missile - both for countermeasure (chaff) and for offensive missiles.
3> What other components can (and should)I outfit.
For me in the starter ship I swap out the reactor and add a booster, that's normally enough to get me through the first few missions and upgrade to the tier 1 ship and tier 1 (equipment Mark 2 or level 3) kit.
4> Are "Ship Chassis" I see in a vendor the basic ship hull
They are likely blueprints - you take these to a chassis broker (major starports) and he will convert to a ship hull for you, you can buy second hand hulls as well (or sell yours later)
5> If I buy a chassis, do I have to buy engines and everything else to make it fly?
Yes, but you can take stuff out of your current ship and put it into the new one.
6> What do "Flight Computers" do?
Flight computers (astromechs for most rebel ships) allow for droid commands to be executed - these allow temporary overload of some systems and you can buy command chips or program them yourself when you have the relevant skill in the fourth tree of pilot.

Thanks for the response, Red-Dwarf!
One last question... is there a good web site where I can get lots of this kind of information?
