Thread: Newbie Weapons Smith
Hey,
I am new to the WS profession and I was wondering what made a weapon good. I have some idea that a good OQ helps and that experimenting helps too.
I was wondering how important the building skills part of the tree was and how it effected weapon construction. Any tips or advice would be apreciated.
first: first get gunsmith (firearms)
second: getexpert weaponsmith (techniques
third get swordsmith (melee weapons)
fourth get chemical weapons manufacturer (Munitiions)
grind your way to master WS through crafting projectile rifle barrels

thats basically weaponsmithing in a nutshell
The answer to your question itself is within your set of schematics. In your datapad, as well as during weapon assembly - within the information in your draft schematic is all the values that determines what will make the weapon better.
For example, scout blaster is 50% conductivity 50% overall quality in all the catagories it calls upon.
So amongst the various metals you have, add those values up then divide it by two and whichever one is the highest result, is the the best metal for that job.
Another example is the blaster pistol barrel. Which calls upon 66% conductivity and 33% shock resistance. So look amongst your choice of appropriate metals, use this simple formula here. Multiply the conductivity by two then add the shock resistance value to it and then divide that sum by three.
(whee word problems!)
Whichever value is higher, is of course the better choice.
That's the basics of it, each schematic has different requirements but you'll notice it's mostly about Conductivity, Overall Quality, Shock Resistance, and Unit Toughness.
Dont you need to be by a crafting station to do rifle barrels? And if I use the macro it gets screwed up when next to the station. Was there a way to fix this? I have been doing pitol barrels instead.
Thanks.
nm I just found how to pass up the crafting station by putting a couple extra comands in.
