I know it's a good ways off, but does anyone think that Weaponsmiths will be building weapons for spaceships or even sooner vehicles?

Actually, it was my hope that such heavy weapons crafting would be one of the elite-elite professions, above weaponsmith. Although now that they took out the Urban Planner profession, i'm not so sure such professions are even on the horizon.

It's been stated that the space expansion will open up 250 extra skill points which can only be used for proffessions that will come with that expansion. I believe that some of those proffessions will be for example: piloting, starship engineering, fleet commander, shield engineering, gunnery engineer, sensor operator, etc.

A proffession like the gunnery engineer (not actual name) would most likely have a prerequisite of at least one of the trees in weaponsmith if not master and would allow you to build mountable starship weaponry. At least that's what I think's gonna happen.

Personally I believe that there should be an engineer who makes vehicles, this would not be a complete profession till SE so until then put them in some other spot. Once SE comes out then the new profession should build both vehicular devices, this would range from starships to ground vehicles.

On that note, weaponsmith should be the only profession to ever make weapons in the game. Maybe for starships the weaponsmith will be contributing to the final product like having to sell the weapons to the starship creator.

Only 10Million for a Planet destroyer?

I'd say 10 Billion at least, anyway if we're making the weapons, who's making the ships? Architects? Droid Engineers? Armorsmiths? or will there be a new Ship Builder class?

It'd be so good to make my own ship and fit it with my own weapons

Actually forget spaceships, it'd also be neat to make my own space station hehehe

Fit it with Anti-Imp Destroyer Cannons that destroy any Imps ships that come within distance...

I take it when Spaceships come out in space we'll be able to hit further than 64m lol

I think that weaponsmiths will be building weapons for the ships, but we wont be selling them to the shiprights ,we would sell them to the actual shipowners as upgrades im guessing, and maybe armorsmiths will be making shield generators or something of that matter, who knows im only guessing.

Not sure what some of you are on , but its clear that there will only be 4 additional profession, Rebel Pilot, Imperial Pilot, Neutral Pilot (or close to it) and Shipwright. I'm like 95% sure its been stated that Shipwright (to begin with) will be a selfcontained profession e.g. No Weapon Upgrade from Weaponsmiths. So I can 4 branches in the Shipwright tree (Weapons, Shield, Engines and design) Design will include Experimentation and Schmatics of ships, Weapons will include more powerful weapons as you climb it e.g. Laser Cannon at 1 and Advanced Laser Canon at 3 Ion Canon at 2 for example. Shield and Engines will be of similar getting better as you go up like most other crafting professions. Its almost garanteed that the shipwright will have the ability to experiment in specific areas e.g Speed, Weapons, Shield, Hull plating etc to customize ships.

Additional to this its also more than rumor that Shipwright will be a base proffesion e.g. Like Brawler, scout etc so you won't need and prerequisitis to start it (not good imho) would perfer Eng 4 as a minimum requirement if not Master Artisan.

I guess with no surveying skills required, the Shipwright will be buying his resources off the bazaar.

I think actually they made it a starting Prof so that there will be lots of players building ships and there won't be a long leadtime before space is flooded with ships and to keep the prices down. I'm guessing that the resource and component requirements won't be too high. Probably won't be much more resources required than what is needed for a landspeeder. Obviously resource quality or experimentation won't be a major factor. The devs have serious issues about making it so that anyone just starting the game should be able to compete with a master. They must be democrats.
