I made Master Weaponsmith on Corbantis yesterday morning. Great, now just to find the resourses I need and get to work right? I got pretty much everything I need to start making stuff, dave one item. OSTRINE Carbonate ore. No problem, I will ask around for some........

Buddy 1...Nope

Buddy 2...Nope, just sold mine.

Buddy 3...Yeah, I have some.

Me...........Great, how much do you want for it?

Buddy 3...Oh 3 million should do...

Me...........In the quiet words of the virgin Mary come again?....

Buddy 3...Yeah 3 million and I will give you 20K of it, its what I have left.

Me............ ......

Buddy 3...It's good stuff, dont worry.

Me.............At a 150 cpu it had better make the power supply for the blaster on its own.

Buddy 3...It's rare on this server.

This is exactly the kind of stuff that made me leave the game before. You can't be a weaponsmith without this resource and it isn't anywhere on the server. And what there is of it is 150-200 cpu. No thanks, mining will be the profession for now I guess. Any thoughts on what I can do to make regular power handlers better?

I had to wait for 3 months until the Ostrine Ore appeared on Gorath after I started WS.

But swgcraft.com lists the last Ostrine Ore on Sunrunner 15 days ago...

Expect to spend about 6 months of gathering and stockpiling resources before you have quality stuff of all that you need. There are about 60+ different named resources you need for weaponsmith, they can't all exist in good quality at once. =)

Take Jef's advice: start with melee weapons. They have less stringent requirements, and there's a lot more melee-ers around right now anyhow. With some good steel, dolovite iron, and polymer you can make a good living on curved swords, and you're only one good kammris iron spawn away from being able to put out quality power hammers and gaffi sticks. Use those sales to fund yourself while you gather the stuff to make firearms. They're a lot pickier and will take you a lot longer to get what you need.

Don't forget, Ostrine only makes up 5/44 parts of the ABPH.

So even having low quality stuff will only cost you 5-10 pts of max damage.

It's *really* not that huge, so long as the rest of your resources are of reasonable quality.

I'm using 630 OQ Irolunn, and am hitting 38 max damage on the ABPHs, so it's not as critical as some people would like you to think.

As for me, the most I ever paid for a resource was 50cpu for Alantium Carbonate Ore, for T21s. And *that* was critical, in that I didn't have the option of 'lower quality', that was the only stuff I'd found in over a month of looking.

you could also focus on heavy weapons and nades till it spawns, these tend to be a pretty nich market that not many smiths, myself inculded, even bother to worry about. and you can do just fine selling Flamers made with reg handlers as whats 20 max dmg, to a weapon that already has 800+ dmg. just a few other options you have till you find the ore.

You could also start with standard components. They do lower damage, but often have faster speed. The big advantage is they require far more generic resources. Reactive gas instead of Irolunn Reactive Gas. Any ore instead of Ostrine ore.

You'll sacrifice a little damage, but it will get you in the game faster and cheaper than trying to buy your way into old, rare resources.

Becoming a Master WS is a trial.

1st, you need to grind it up.

Once you're there you will need about 40-60 different named resources to make everything. Problem is, many of these resources are rare, or they have nothad a goodspawn in eons. You are basically left with a couple options:

1. Bide your time, and sell what you CAN make. Pick up JnF's WS tool, and watch for new resources you don't have or stuff that's better than what you do have. This could take months, and months, and months. Some resources on Bria have had one, maybe two good spawns since launch. DO NOT MISS OUT on a good spawn, you never know when or even IF something as good will ever come along again.

2. Buy into resources. Ideally, you find a WS or threehaving a going-out-of-business sale and buy up the resources you need. This is what I did on Bria, and it cost me about 12 million all-told. I have not even begun to recover that cost, but my WS sales are just now picking up.

It will be very hard to jump into the market competing with the established smiths. Your resources will likely not be as good, so your product will be of a lower quality. Keep at it, and eventually you'll be there. Just be ever-vigilant on the resources, and work on pushing your product, and stand behind it.

? Well if you already ARE, you don't.

If you aren't, I can't see how you can become one unless you earn the XP. Unless there is something I totally missed somewhere...

I think he means you don't have to grind, but can play your way up through the profession. Which almost makes sense, because if you grind to master in one day, you're still months of resource gathering away from being a true master. Unless you have the tens of millions that old resources will cost you, you can spend a few months gathering resources and playing whatever other class you want while you slowly work your way up.

True. I was already a Master Architect, so I had resources uin stock. Granted, not everything I needed, but I had the means to purchase what I didn't have.
