Hi Everyone,
Recently we had talks on our ID forums about how novice ID's could compete with master ID's in terms of customers and making profit. I would assume, most crafting professionsand entertainer professionshave this issue to, that Masters clearly take the cake when it comes to selling items and/or services.
To make a long story short I was brainstorming and I came up with an idea completely outside my profession and wanted to share it with you because well, it involved you all.
My idea was to create energy cells or power packs for guns/rifles/vibro-weapons. The cells would provide power, aka ammunition for the weapons, just like in Star Wars movies/rpg's. The weapos woudl still decay during use but so will the power cells. Power cells would of course deplete faster than the weapon. When the power cell reaches 0% power, you must "reload" your weapon. This element alone could provide interesting results in PvP/PvE gameplay as well as make a marketable item for novice weapon smiths to compete with the Masters.
Thanks for yoru time, I hope it gives you all something to discuss.

Why would I want to make something other than a projectile rifle barrel? :-P
I've been selling furniture and small houses to pay the bills, since the occasional scout blaster on the bazaar won't cover harvester maintenance on my "fleet" of personals.
It's not a bad idea, and would give novices like myself something to contribute something to the economy. But I don't think it'd go over well in general. Since weapons decay, they are technically consumables. I don't think adding an ammo clip to that recurring expense would be real popular.

If the concept is to provide a craftable item that novice weaponsmiths could produce competitively with masters, they actually already exist - power-ups and munitions.
Most masters don't have the time or inclination to make either, and enterprising novices can take advantage of that. The few extra damage points a master could achieve don't seem to matter much with those products.
Otherwise, there has to be a reason for mastering a craft, and veterans have to be rewarded for longevity.
It's a nice idea you have, but I wanted to make sure people knew alternatives already existed.

u can also build weapon upgrade kits by the crate load... otherwise, dont bother trying to compete with the masters because if that was the case, there would be no point to mastering a profession.
