Thread: WS killed SWG (In a good way)

The CU1 came from an imbalance in the combat system. Overpowered weapons contributed to the imbalance. WS made the weapons far beyond what the devs thought possible.

In CU2, they imposed hard caps but even then we were able to double cap many of their weapons, still making them far more powerful then the devs wanted.

Bottom Line: The devs underestimated the intellegence of a WS It was us (Crafters) who analyzed the game and were ale to find out how to make the best weapons, better than the DEVs wanted.

And it is because we as a collective are smarter then the devs, we are slowly being removed from the game. Much like a control freak, the devs need complete control of their game and we are the closest thing to competition to them.

I'd disagree with that. Most of the overpowered pre-CU weapons were looted exceptional and legendary weapons. Very few crafted weapons ever got into the upper range of uber. On top of that, speed tapes, doctor buffs, and 90% armor, and stacked defenses all contributed more to a players uberness back then than the weapon he was carrying.

It was true that the CU2 crafting systems was messed up with the caps and all, but in truth the difference between a double capped weapon and a run of the mill weapon was minimal. A players character level, his skillmods, and the specials he used had a bigger impact than his choice of weapon.

I agree with you that the WS community is much smarter than the devs when it comes to crafting in this game, but I don't think the upcoming death of WS has anything to do with the devs being control freaks. The simple reason is that they just don't have a clue what makes crafting fun in this game. They've shown time and time again both in changes and in postings that they don't understand the pointlessness of single-line crafting.

Maybe the game needs smarter armorsmiths to balance the super weaponsmiths

- I support a rollback and keeping & balancing the old combat system.
