Hello. I am on the Scylla server and since the RESPEC, I have taken my Master Chef and converted her over to Master AS.

I in it for the fun, not making money. I am very low on the crafting pole. Was just wondering if people can post some basic advice or info since I jumped into this.

I was trying to read a few posts. Since the CU, has the skills stayed the same? Will a 12pt WS always make better weapons then just a plain Master WS. Clueless here...my toons are mainly fighters.

School me!

you should allways keep your eyes on swgcraft.com WS takes a huge ammount of different resoures and getting them while theyre in spawn can be essential.

Start crafting melee weapons as they require the least amount of different resources, thou post CU you wont sell quite as many of these as before.

Being a 12 poinyer is unfortunately a great advantage post CU as you wont be able to compete in DPS if you dont have the extra 2 points.

If you are creative you might be able to cather to a niche marked by making weapons experimented differently

Enjoy ´WSing

Honestly? Spend 3 months gathering resources. If you have some money on hand, you might be able to do some bottom feeding right now and pick up some stuff at a going out of business sale. But it will take you a couple of months at best to get everything you need. Read the stickies. Download or copy someon's list of resouces because there are a bunch that you'll need to know about. A 12 pt smith will generally make better weapons. But a 10 pt smith with excellant resources will beat a 12 pt smith with mediocre resources. Did I mention resources? About 90% of WS is the resources. About 5% is knowledge and the other 5% is luck.

Are you serious about doing weaponsmith Seita? As others on this site can attest,it takes hours upon hours of resource gathering/comparing, crafting, studying, testing, note taking....to do it well. It's literally as much work as a RL job. But....it is a fun challenge(or used to be - I'm still undecided on post-CU), if challenges you like. You were a chef, so I guess you had a taste for this.(/duckpillow)

If you are serious, I can get you started with some resources. I have much in storage that can get you started. Mostare great resources that have been edged out by something slightly better. It wouldn't hurt for you to start collecting the free resource kits either. Those are great if new to a crafting prof because they allow you to search the resource database from day 1. And yeah, the 12 point suitis much more important than it was pre-CU, since damage and speed got seperated in experimentation.

Trust me I am not going to go crazy with this. I was just going to have a little fun making stuff with the parts I have. I am not into it for a business or making money, just a little side fun for when I am bored fighting. A friend of mine quit long ago and left me a ton of resources and I have looted parts. Not looking to be a "Weapon Crafter God", trust me, I don't have the time. Just advice for desent crafting.

Want to have fun? Craft uber weapons for your fighting character.

How to do this? I assume you have about 2 accounts and that you received the 6 months veteran reward (crates of 30K of any resource). At least I assume you have about 10 mill to burn - this is expensive hobby.

Find the best WS on your server, offer the 2 crates and ask for 10K of each of the resourcesyou need to craft the 1-2 weapons that really matter for your fighting profession. You should need aboutabout 10 such resources, for the subcomponents and the weapons themselves.

Do your homework and check at swgcraft which are the best resources that spawned on your server in each category. Even if you don't get those, at least make sure that what you get isvery close.

Alternately, if you have money, you cantry to buy the resources you need at some outrageous price, like 100 cpu or whatever.

Play a little withyour new resources, hopefully you'll be able to craft stuff at about 290-310 base dps.

When you're confident that you know what you're doing use that cache of krayt tissues... with the best of them you should be able to get 330+ dps... Enjoy!

excellent post...

I think with the new respec changes a lot people are considering MWS. A friend of mine for example... hehehehe

Some of the questions he asked me...

"What items should a nooby MWS (10 point) concentrate on..."

I suggested making the easiest stuff possible and putting on the bazaar to see how well things do, until he gets comfortable with the

whole ws interface and experimenting, then slowly move toward the more requested items a little at a time as resource gathering

allows.

"Since there are 12.3 trillion different resources available, should you concentrate on getting the best of the best during each spawn..."

I suggested downloading all the applicable files that relate, find out what current resources mean anything and go with those

and try to get as much of it as you can, regardless of what items your concentrating on, due to the fact that some resources with

the "God Almighty" stats dont spawn but once every 5 or 6 years.

The moral of the post is that, I know this guys is going to stick with it and it would be nice to have a post-CU nooby guide for WS, I havent seen much if

anything in that area, the borked search engine hurts (again...), but thanks for any help you crafting gods/ goddess can provide.

please forgive the multipost... I have no idea what happened there

Well I'm a newbie Weaponsmith but its something that I wanted to do since I started playing the game (over a year ago).I also liked the idea of not having to hunt around for a weaponsmith to get something done to my satisfaction.

My son account wasnt being used much so decided to turn his toon into a weaponsmith.

I turned him into a WS 1 week before CU went live(yeah I did it the hard way - the grind).

But Ive got a few things in my favour.

Firstly, I had a reasonable amount of money. So before I had even started the grind to WS I had already got the 20 experimentation points so I could start out as a 12 point WS. The money is also helpful for buying resources and boy will it consume some serious money.

Secondly I really wanted to succeed. So I put some effort into the research.

Ok, so here are my tips:

- Pick on a weapon you want to make well. For me it was E11 MII (actually it was the laser carbine pre-CU). Find out what is necessary to make that good (more on that later). The thing is that is giving you some focus and I found that in a short time I could make some really good stuff.

- Get a document (its on a link on the FAQ) called a "Weaponsmith Resource Reference". This is your bible, albiet a little out of date post-CU. This document will list every material type that useful for a WS. It will also tell you what the material is used for. It will tell you which attributes are necessary in that material. It will also give you an indication what is the best you can expect for a given atttribute (ie Titanium Aluminum has a max conductivity of 450 so if you find something close, its as good as its going to get). Use this document when you are looking for materials.

- You need to start looking for materials. First focus on materials you need for a given weapon type but try to get some of everything. You will find WS very demorolising if anytime you want to have a go at making something (even it wont the best) you find you dont the right materials. Looking for materials means what? Well the bazaar and vendor search. Ive spent literally hours paging through stuff in the bazaars.

- Make notes, lots of notes. Ive got a spreadsheet listing 110+ resources. So when im browsing the bazaar or I see some material on sell in the forums, I can use the "Weaponsmtih Resource Reference" to see what that resource is for and using my own resource list see how it compares with what Ive got. Then I can make a decision to buy it or not.

- Dont be frightened to ask other weaponsmiths. Most ive met have been very helpful and will tell you which ingredients they use for different things. We gotgood some really good WS on our server (A'ru , Sidalo, etc) and when I posted on the forums that I was looking for certainingredients a whole bunch of people chipped in and commented on alternatives, better ones. The truth is you are going to have to rely on local knowledge the online references are complete.

- www.SWCRAFT.com People use SWCRAFT a lot. I think its a great site but its not an absolute reference. There are some top resource I have that I couldnt find on SWCRAFT, so use it but expect to have to seek advice from other WS.

- Get yourself 12 pts. Sorry, as depressing as it is trying to get it, thats what you need. I personnally decided that it wasnt going to be worth even trying being a WS without them, so I only started grinding when I get the points.

- Be prepared to spend a boat load of money.

If you dont research, spent boat loads of money, spend time getting resources, you wont have a very rewarding time as a WS.

I think im already quite a competent WS. Ive made some very nice weapons already. I was making 300DPS weapons in the first week of CU. Ive made a DL44XT with 360 DPS. Someone bought it off my vendor on Friday and I admit I was kind of sad. Still I gave him one of my powerups and in their hands it turned into a 700DPS weapon . I dont make every weapon tho.
