Im making a 1000 use schematic of a component. Ill end up with 40 crates which will fit into the input hopper of a factory while I make another product which usesthis componentas an ingredient. Can the factory be run like this? Since the input hopper is 100 items then I cant uncrate 1000components into it.
So Ive tried this and the factory is not running it wastes 30 units of resource and stops running. I made a schematic where the component was made in prototype form not from a crate.

The whole point of using factories is that you want to create several identical items. In order to do this, you'll also need identical components. So if you made a schematic using a component you crafted as a prototype, then that schematic is not usable for anything. The components it can use has to be identical to the components used in making the schematic.

You shouldn't have to uncrate items. The only thing you should have to separate are stacks of items that aren't in factory crates (tissues, shards, etc...) I have made a few factory runs of guns where the ABPHs, barrels, and scopes were still in the factory crates, and they worked just fine.

Ya just move crates from output hopper to input hopper. WAAAAYYyyy back when, factories were very buggy and you usually had to uncrate every single part for the weapons to build correctly. now that was a major pain when making T21's with 10 ABPH each
