the advanced components add more damage than regular components do and they reduce the speed even more...whatever the normal component does the advanced ones do it better...hope this helps

it depends on what you need. On valcyn i dont really use Adv Blaster barrels, it its much slower and it only add's 3 to min and max damage or so. I use Adv Blaster Power Handlers, adv Stocks, adv Scopes. Depends on the resources for the scopes though, some times if i dont have great chromium(sp?) alum...i use the standard. Its something you just have to play with and see how things come out.

As we are on the topic....

ABPH in heavy weapons... Flame Throwers etc - the extra damage barely makes a difference with a 800+ damage weapon. Is it better to use standard BPH for the increased speed? Proportionately the 0.2/0.3 speed increase makes a bigger impact on the DPS than an extra 20 damage, or does it? Do we hit a speed cap on this weapon?

I tend to hear the standard - use advanced components - put all experimentation on damage - a lot, but I think their is more to it than that, the problem is educating the game players and testing these things out a bit - because the mechanics of combat are not explained fullyby SOE. I have a TKM friend who asked me to make the lowest possible HAM VKs I could, the damage is terrible, but he likes them and has asked for another pair.

standard Scopes - You can experiment the HAM costs down to a (rounded) 0 and give a +10 or more to the ideal range mod, but how do you sell that to a customer? Do you use them as standard, or just when requested? Even worse with advanced scopes, because you incur a HAM hit for the range mod increase, so do the customers take notice, or would I better saving the resources?

Beeing a fighter prefession I can tell you that I fully understand your friends request about the low HAM cost weapon. If we view this simplistic if your Ham cost is half of what if was you can do double the specials so you do at least double the damage. I doubt the damage of your Low Ham VK washalf the damage of your High Ham VK. Of course this is incorrect but the general thining is sound. If you're always out of mind you're vulnerable to a ill timed head hit, your options are reduced, panic time/blue milk time!

I don't think new players will look at that or even know a high HAM cost from a low HMA cost but I bet more experienced/number concerned players are especially on high mind cost weapons.

If you're out there crafting weapons for sale try doing some Low HAM cost weapons and advertising them that way. Instead of Master's Speed/Damage I'd like to see MAster's Speed/Low HAm cost weapons. I bet Swordsman and Pikeman would love them!

IMO.... every damage increase point wise and speed increase( the more "-" the better) helps combat professions attain victory faster... I have an alt that is a combat elite, and several friends that ask me to make the best weapons possible, so I would say if you have the resources to make advanced components you definitely should, unless of course the stats on the resources are so poor its not worth it... that you would have to experiment with to find out... as far as HAM goes i hardly get requests even from master hvy swordsman ( big mind sapping prof) to reduce ham's of my weapons... instead they compensate by drinking 2 brandy's +425 each to mind/focus/will and then eating 2 vagnerian canapes (sp) +400 to Focus/will power = 850Mind, 1650 will, 1650 focus...with these all in use along with doc buffs of the rest of the stats, the regeneration rates of the HAM used in doing specials is really fast .... so thats why they all want best dmg and speed, although at atimes i get requests for higher Range mod weapons for PH's and LVA's since the to hit mods are way negative... so advanced comps are your friend hehe

Most of the advanced components are better. Some of them require resources that are rediculously rare, or badly gimped so the outcome is not much better than the standard. Like Blaster Rifle barrels. Standards, for me are 2 damage less but are about .12 faster. I'd rather have a tenth of a second in speed than 2 points of damage.

Blade vibro units would be much better if the UT on Desh copper wasn't gimped to 400. Power Handlers also suffer from gimped resources.

Hi

I havequite a lot ofcomissions for both PVE'ers and PVP ers.

I allso have some experience fromhaving grinded throughseveral combat classes.

Its really a matter of your customers playstyle. There is no singular answer to this.

Generally Advanced components (If you have good resources) Outweigh the basic ones in damage output, Range mods and all the good stuff. The cost is increased HAM.

What does this mean ?

Well for instance a big issue for TKM when doing their specials that taps their HAMis that they are WAY fast, and therefore the HAM cost ... especially on MIND is a big problem. The HAM cost for Health and Action can be helped by buffing, but especially the drain on HAM for mind is the reason most TKM's need a break from time to time.

and that is with a VK with mind cost of 35 ish.

Some customers have told me that since they are allways buffed, I shouldnt consider the HAM cost, but range mods are very important. This is especially important for SLOW weapons. Missing 1 time out of 10 with a slow weapon is a lot worse than having fast weapons miss every once in a while, becaouse the fight could be over long before the mentioned 10 hits. This has been the case for several customers that focus on PVP

I say this only to stress (at least in my opinion) that its really up to what your customers favours as play styles.

Fighterclasstemplates helps to make some general observations for some groups of customers, but my bet is that these groups hardly represent the majority of our customer base.

So again. I think there are no fixed answers on this, outside what everyone should know... When people start a fighter class, they focus on speed. When they advance they tend to split up. Some focus on HAM use and some focus ondamage. There are allso a lot of Masters that likes to stand outthat focus on something completelydifferent, and its usually those customers that pay you hoards of money.

Thanx for all the Info, As a newb to the WS proffesion there are still some things i dont know about. This in peticular being one of them. I've always tried to use ADV componets when availiable (good quality resources). I figured the ADV would most likely be better but wasn't sure of how much better then reg ones. Once again thank you to everyone who posted!
