Thread: Is it worth just becoming a Melee and Crafting Technique Weaponsmith? (Just doing those two trees?)

Basically the title says it all. Do you really need to master the entire weapsmith tree to really be able to make something useful and that you can sell?

Thanks much,

Yes, unfortunately, at master you get +100 craft exp/assm, I too was aiming just for melee & technique but didn't keep going on the tree grind. Best bet is to find a decent craft apron and combine it with another piece of clothing and maybe you'll get lucky with +90 exp/assm.

Yep, without assembly +100 and experimentation +100, it would be tough to make exceptional melee weapons.Without master weaponsmith, you'd only have +75 / +75, and that would only give you 7 experimentation points. If youhad resources for your melee weapon that were SR 850, you would not be able to max out damage even on those.

Making master weaponsmith is certainly easier / less expensive than purchasing tape (on my server the tape is ridiculous, one guy paid 20 mil fora +13 experimentaiton tape), so I would go the master WS route.

There is certainly a market for low-end weapons, but you have to sell on price rather than quality, and so it's more difficult to make a reasonable income on those.

Thanks folks. Well it seems like I would be better off selling all the ore and etc. thatI have amassed rather than use it to grind on just those two branches and focus on mastering other branches with the skill points. Correct?

Thanks again,

Then again, some of us make decent money not being a Master Weaponsmith.......

Master Weaponsmith is NOT the only way to play.

I'm nowhere NEAR being a Master WS, yet I consistently make money.

Not by ripping people off either.

I frequently sell D18s, DL44s, Scout Blasters, 2 Handed Axes, and C12 Grenades on the Bazaar for 2-3k apiece.

Because my stats are clearly labeled, and most of the stuff on the Bazaar is crap being sold at 6k.....

If you feel that you have to sell the "best of the best", then yeah, you'll need to hit Master Weaponsmith.

Otherwise, go for your original plan, and see if it's fun.

And just so ya know, grinding is boring, and really REALLY unnecessary. I find I make enough XP off of my "nope, that was crap, practise that one, and make another" afternoons....

No one is saying that non-Masters can't turn a credit, and of course there are (a few) non-Masters concentrating on lines like munitions, but I still think on most servers it would be awfully difficult to make competitive products without the 100+ skills.

Besides, I think after a while one would naturally want to make the best weapons possible anyways. So, in general I would conclude, no, it's not a viable option to remain a non-Master.
