Thread: I've discovered MY answer to limited vendors. Start selling weapons by the crate.

It will simply be unfeasable to fully stock vendors with the recently announced merchant changes.
But no matter how hard the Devs try to break up the imaginary monopolies (the whining of hologrinder weaponsmiths who thought they could be weaponsmith for a month and be a billionaire) the players will find ways around it.
How many of you dirty "monopolistic" weaponsmiths will just start selling weapons in crates of 10 or 25 and probably actually make more money than you do now since all other vendors will be empty and players will buy in bulk when they find you?

I was thinking about selling by the crate too. Unfortunately, this will mean that lower level characters will be out of luck unless they find a benefactor. It also means that, as a player grinds up a branch (pistols 1, 2, 3, 4), they're going to be buying more weapons than they actually need.
I think MY answer is to specialise in a subset of weapons. E.g. I'll make only rifles and fencer weapons. But I don't know. We'll see how things shake out on TC.

hm I've been working like this for couple months now, I've got more crates than singles on vendor and people totally love it
after revamp I won't be stocking any singles anymore, minimal crates of 3-5, depending on what weapon and what price it is
more specialisation is out of the question, I already only make grenades and melee, while my associate does all ranged

I don't post a lot...but this is something I feel very strongly about.
Instead of limiting a merchants item limit to next to nothing. They really need to try the below listed ideas first, and see if that helps the server data base issues.....
1..... The Devs need to focus on all those (as mentioned previously) people who have vendors and use for storage who no longer have merchant skills, sweep those vendors that is unfair to a *real* merchant who still has there skills.2......AndI am totally for the 2 weekempty vendor sweep. I hate empty vendors just as much as anyone else.
......I am a merchant my vendors always have stuff on them, I am constantly restocking to keep my customers happy and give them variety. I spend atleast 4 hrs a week restocking alone, not to mention the crafting part of it.
Devs I hope you read this, I am sure it wont make a difference but, I tried.............please don't nerf the *real* merchants nerf the none merchants who no longer have the skills to have the vendors.....

OK, I should say that I do agree with the empty-vendor sweep, only because when I go to other servers and I'm trying to hunt down some weapons or armour and I keep running into empty vendors, it makes my blood boil. All I want to do is go out and run some missions or explore, and it takes me all my playing time just to equip myself. Very frustrating.

I and many others have suggested a fix for thiswhole thing both recently and months back.
Why can't we place crates of items on our vendors and then buyers choose how many they wish to purchase at a visit, by some method of inputting the number in a form. N00bs can buy their 1 scout pistol or whatever, while someone looking for the perfect slice can come in and choose 10 or more. The vendor then spits out 1 or 10 items in a crate which players can pull as necessary from that crate.
The database space this would save on both the vendor and in the player inventory of buyers would be substantial. Restocking items would be fast and painless. This item limit (while still too low) would be almost bearable.
In fact if this could be done on crates then perhaps on resource stacks too? How many times have you seen 100K of some high SR colat iron on sale when all you need is like, 20K for those cleavers? I'm sure this applies to other professions.
The reason is, suggestions like these make sense and do away with the timesinks in the game (I've spent hours relisting unsold stock from stockroom every week for months when I could have been off having fun killing things). They prefer to nerf and break the game we have become used to. Sure the databse is f**ked but it's the fault of a crappy code that allows people with 0 mercahnt (or even artisan) skills to store 1000's of things on their vendor(s). Why tar us all with the same brush and make vendors even MORE of a chore than they already are? It seems the devs, from the decisions I've seen taken by this team the last month or so, are determined to drive players away in droves.

That is an awsome idea. You should post this in the merchant forum, if you havnt already.

I've been offering this for awhile now. Granted, I'm a very low traffic vendor since I mainly craft as a hobby and for guild members, along with one bulk reseller, but of every 25 weapons, I usually put 10-15 on the vendor, and the other in sets of 5 as a crate with a slight discount.

well, you guys have to remember one thing. now im not saying this will happen but it is a possiblity...
not all changes that go to the TC make it to the live update. Im hopeing that it does awful on the TC and they atleast double the limit if not get rid of it

All they need to do is get rid of all the empty vendors. That will solve all our problems. No need to nerf crafters, we've been nerfed enough already with all this super loot. Now we will be nerfed more because wewon't beable to sell everything we can craft.
When this game first started weaponsmiths and armorsmiths were almost god like. Now we're a dime a dozen un-needed nobodys. I vote strike. Nerf our weapons, make awsome loot weapons and now nerf our vendors. I say everyone closes their doors to their shops. See how quickly the devs respond to that.

I'm just gonna be selling regular stock on my vender, nothing fancy, but I'm also going to have a perma message on the vender saying send mails for specialist orders, with a list of what I can make, and the average stats on them.

The crates thing is a great idea with a couple of minor tweaks:
* Allow crafters without factories to somehow 'crate' handcrafted weapons.
* Fix the disappearing scopes / muzzles bug with factory weapons.
