Okay, I'm having trouble getting the search engine to work on the site, so here goes. In the FAQ about WS issues it talks about advanced components not giving the bonuses proportionate to the HAM costs inccured by using them.

I'm an Expert Weapon Smith (on Bria)steadily going up the Firearms tree...about to get the magical third box that would grant me advanced components.

I intend to at least try a couple of pistols with advanced components to try this out, but before I do can anyone please offer advice on the necessity of using the advanced components, other than when formulas call for them? It's entirely possible I'm misinterpreting the FAQ as I'm dead tired right now, but in my mind the advanced components would bea good thing to use.

I can't find the thread from which I pulled this info, but here are some exemplary pairs. With this information you ought to be able to make up your mind, based on what you're after in your final weapon. Note that these are examples and your mileage may vary, but proportionally, they're accurate.
